Why Bet on the Dallas Cowboys?

Say what you want about the scrappy Dallas Cowboys, but the fact remains that they’re 3-1 in spite of Dak Prescott’s absence. The Cowboys obliterated yet another division rival in Week 4, handing a 25-10 thrashing onto the Washington Commanders in a game that was nowhere near as close as what the final score suggests.

Backup quarterback Cooper Rush remained unbeaten as Dallas’ starting QB, finishing the game with 223 passing yards and a pair of passing TDs with no interceptions. Rush connected with top wideout Ceedee Lamb (six catches, 97 yards) on a 30-yard score in the fourth quarter of the contest to virtually seal the deal for the Cowboys, and Michael Gallup also rejoined the team’s receiving platoon and hauled in an easy TD of his own in his return from a lengthy knee injury.

While the Cowboys’ offense is still relatively pedestrian without Prescott under center, their defense has stepped up in a big way and is now one of the best stop units in all of football. Dallas is tied for the second-most sacks in the NFL with 15 and third in scoring defense allowing just 15.5 yards on average this season thus far.

Why Bet on the Los Angeles Rams?

The Los Angeles Rams’ two-game win streak came to a halt in Week 4, as they ran into a familiar divisional foe who’s had their number of late. The Rams suffered quite the beating by way of a 24-9 loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, who’ve now won four straight meetings against the reigning Super Bowls champs played in Santa Clara.

Perhaps heading back to LA will give Matthew Stafford more confidence in the passing game. Stafford was held without a passing TD for the second straight game, finishing Week 4’s contest with 254 yards on 32-of-48 passing along with one pick and a lost fumble. Los Angeles’ running game remains virtually non-existent, putting up just 57 rushing yards as a team on 18 carries (3.2 YPC) against a stout Niners front seven.

Things will not get any easier for the Rams against Dallas’ defense, which means their own D has to take advantage of a Cowboys offense led by Cooper Rush. They’ve generated seven turnovers on defense thus far, which is great, but they’ve also committed nine turnovers of their own on offense. This would explain why Los Angeles is merely at the .500 mark despite all the star power from last season’s championship-winning squad mostly intact.

Cowboys vs. Rams Betting Trends

  • The Cowboys are currently on a five-game road win streak (SU/ATS).
  • The Cowboys are 1-3 in their last four games against LA (SU/ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in four of the last five meetings between these two teams.
  • The Rams are 6-4 at home in the regular season since the start of the previous NFL campaign (4-6 ATS).
  • The Rams are 9-1 in their last 10 regular-season contests as favorites to win (5-4 ATS).
  • The totals have gone under in five of Los Angeles’ last six games in general, including the playoffs.

Cowboys vs. Rams Expert Betting Predictions

It’s hard to deny the appeal of the Cooper Rush fever going on in Dallas right now. Then again, this will be Rush’s toughest test yet, which has us leaning more towards a convincing win for the Rams. For as long as Stafford isn’t fixated on connecting with his prized weapon alone in Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles has all the necessary tools to get over their early-season slump.
