Why Bet on the Houston Texans?
The Houston Texans are coming off their scheduled bye in Week 10 having lost eight consecutive games. Their 17-9 defeat at the hands of the Miami Dolphins prior to their break was arguably their worst outing yet, as the Texans committed four turnovers and failed to capitalize on their five takeaways off of Miami as well.
Quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who made his first start against the Dolphins following a six-game absence due to a hamstring injury, did not have a terrific return to action. Taylor completed 24 of 43 pass attempts for 240 passing yards and three interceptions, as the Texans now have 17 turnovers for the season (fourth-most in the NFL).
Forcing five takeaways in the Miami game is a good sign for Houston’s defense, which prevented an opponent from scoring over 30 points for the first time in four games. With that in mind, covering a double-digit spread actually seems like a doable task for one of the worst teams in the league.
Why Bet on the Tennessee Titans?
Despite the Tennessee Titans’ running game being in total flux, Mike Vrabel and his boys from the Music City still managed to eke out a 23-21 win over the New Orleans Saints this past Sunday. The Titans are now on a six-game win streak and well on their way to a seventh consecutive victory with a favorable matchup against the lowly Texans.
Ryan Tannehill did just enough under center against New Orleans’ stout defense, finishing with 213 passing yards and one TD pass on 19-of-27 passing. With Tennessee also missing one of its top receiving threats in Julio Jones (hamstring), unheralded wideout Marcus Johnson stepped up to the challenge, finishing with team-highs of six targets, five catches, and his first-career 100-yard receiving game in the NFL.
Although the Titans were outgained in total yardage by the Saints, 373-264, their defense hung on and didn’t fall apart en route to a victory. Tennessee’s stop unit, which is middle-of-the-pack in most key defensive categories, should have a morale-boosting effort against one of the worst offenses in the NFL this coming weekend.
Texans vs. Titans Betting Trends
- The Texans are winless over their last seven road games (2-5 ATS).
- The Texans are 0-5 this season in games wherein they were double-digit underdogs (2-3 ATS).
- The totals went under in each of Houston’s last four road games.
- The Titans have won four straight home games to date (3-1 ATS).
- The Titans are 5-2 in the last seven meetings against the Texans (4-3 ATS).
- The totals went over in four of the five most recent meetings between Houston and Tennessee.
Texans vs. Titans Expert Betting Predictions
It’s a no-brainer that the Titans are clear-cut favorites to win this contest. On the other hand, we’ve seen more than a handful of shocking upsets in the league over the past couple of weeks. Tennessee’s lack of a running game could end up being their undoing against a well-rested Texans side that’s motivated to finally get back on the win column.
