The top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles earned their place in the big dance that is Super Bowl LVII after the two emerged victorious from their respective Conference Championship Battles on Sunday. It’s the first time that the Chiefs and the Eagles will face off for an NFL title, but their upcoming matchup for all the marbles isn’t short of compelling storylines to keep in the back of our minds.

Reid’s Revenge
Older NFL fans would recall that before Chiefs head coach Andy Reid became the savior of Arrowhead, he had an even longer stint as a successful head coach over in Philadelphia. Reid spent 14 seasons at the helm of the Eagles and made it to one Super Bowl before his current decade-long stint in KC.
It all comes full circle in Super Bowl LVII, and we’re not talking about Reid’s jolly rotund figure. Rather, one of the greatest NFL head coaches of all time will face the bittersweet reality of needing to beat the former team that gave him his first and relatively successful head-coaching gig. It’s worth noting that Reid still has the most wins amongst all head coaches in Eagles history; a record that he also has a claim to in Kansas City as we speak.
Former MVP vs. Top MVP Candidate
It goes without saying that the two No. 1 seeds in the playoffs wouldn’t be where they are now if not for their respectively stellar play-callers under center.
Many would agree that Patrick Mahomes remains the best quarterback in the league, having won an MVP in 2018 and making three Super Bowl appearances over the last four seasons, and even winning Super Bowl LIV and taking home the SB MVP title. Mahomes has virtually done it all in the pros already in such a short amount of time. However, like Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow last season, a young up-and-coming QB is out to deny Pat’s dreams of a dynasty.
Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts has a similar skill set as Mahomes being another mobile quarterback with great vision and a strong arm. Hurts, who is Mahomes’ only real opposition for the 2022 NFL MVP award, is no stranger to championship games. The former ‘Bama standout won a national title with the Crimson tide in 2017 and has displayed extreme poise as a pro, which further mirrors his parallel rise in the NFL to Mahomes. Not only that but Hurts and the Eagles blitzed their two NFC playoff opponents by a combined score of 69-14, making Philly a formidable test for a Chiefs team that escaped with one-possession victories on their own path to Super Bowl LVII.
Kelce-ing Double
The Super Bowl is certainly not being played in Philly, as there isn’t going to be much brotherly love thrown around in Glendale two weeks from now. The decorated Kelce brothers will become the first pair of siblings in Super Bowl history who’ll face one another on the grandest stage of them all.
Travis, the prolific record-breaking tight end for the Chiefs has been Mahomes’ partner in crime throughout their entire stint in KC and has been under the media spotlight on more occasions than his older brother. Jason, however, is one of Philly’s most decorated unsung heroes in the trenches. The five-time All-Pro offensive lineman also won a ring before his little bro did as a member of the Eagles’ first-ever Super Bowl-winning squad of the 2017 seaso.
