It makes some sense why Michigan is the favorite to win the National Championship. This is the third season in a row where the Wolverines have made it to the CFP. Michigan boasts a lot of experience on both sides of the football.
The key for the Wolverines is on the offensive end this season where quarterback J.J. McCarthy was in full control from the first game to the Big Ten Championship. McCarthy will hand the ball off to the best pair of running backs in the nation, Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum.
But although the Michigan Wolverines are a great football team, they aren’t as battle-tested as teams like Washington, Texas, and Alabama. Michigan played against two teams that we could describe as elite, Ohio State and Penn State.
The Wolverines beat both, but neither were as good as the Bama squad the Wolverines face in the Rose Bowl. If Michigan gets by Alabama, the Wolverines must face off against the Longhorns or the Huskies, both of which matchup well with the Wolverines.

No team is as hot leading up to the College Football Playoff Semifinals as the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama lost to Texas in their second game of the season, but after Nick Saban benched Jalen Milroe, the Bama signal-caller stepped up his game and now is the top dual-threat QB in the country.
Milroe is making excellent decisions on the field. He beat a Georgia defense in the SEC title game that was supposed to keep him from moving the football. One of the reasons for Milroe’s exceptional play is the emergence of wide receiver Jermaine Burton.
Bama’s defense has also improved from earlier in the season. Dallas Turner has developed into one of the nation’s top edge rushers.
