Why Bet on the Washington Football Team?

The Washington Football Team faced the harsh reality that they’re still a step behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East’s pecking order. Washington lost at home to America’s Team this past weekend, 27-20, for the Cowboys to take a commanding three-game lead in the division standings.

The entire first half was a total disaster for Washington, as Dallas jumped out to a 24-0 lead by halftime. And if 224 total yards on offense wasn’t bad enough, injuries suffered by starting QB Taylor Heinicke (knee) and top wideout Terry McLaurin (concussion) adds further insult to the team’s already tenuous odds of making the playoffs.

Thankfully, Heinicke and McLaurin’s respective injuries aren’t very serious as they’re both expected to play in Week 15’s crucial showdown against the Eagles. The WFT defense did just enough to limit a strong Dallas offense, but the team’s minus-seven turnover differential (sixth-worst in the NFL) is still a cause for concern, especially with question marks surrounding the team’s key offensive weapons.

Why Bet on the Philadelphia Eagles?

The Philadelphia Eagles’ second straight game in MetLife Stadium ended on a better note than the previous week, as they cruised towards a 33-18 win over the New York Jets in Week 13 prior to their scheduled bye this past week. It’s quite the consolation after they were embarrassed by the neighboring Giants in Week 12.

Like Washington, Philadelphia has been on quite a roll, with wins in four of the team’s last five outings. All four of their victories during this stretch were by double digits, while their two losses were each decided by a single scoring possession. What’s strange is that the Eagles beat the Jets with backup QB Gardner Minshew playing out of his mind in place of injured starter Jalen Hurts.

Hurts is expected to be at the helm of the offense again, with the bye week being a blessing towards his recuperation from an ankle sprain. However, the second-year gunslinger is coming off a three-INT performance in the aforementioned loss to the Giants, leaving Philly’s 12th-ranked scoring offense (25.9 PPG) in quite an unpredictable state.

Washington vs. Eagles Betting Trends

  • Washington is 3-3 on the road this season (SU/ATS).
  • The WFT won its last two meetings against Philadelphia, but the team is 2-6 against its division rival since 2017 (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went under in seven of Washington’s last eight games in general.
  • The Eagles are 1-5 at home this season (3-3 ATS) and had just recently snapped their winless streak in Lincoln Financial Field during Week 11’s win over the Saints.
  • The Eagles are 5-3 in its most recent games wherein they were favored to win (4-4 ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in three of Philly’s last four home games.

Washington vs. Eagles Expert Betting Predictions

Knowing that the teams from NFC East just beat up one another to pad their records, there’s no telling which side has the edge in this particular contest. One thing’s for certain: health will be a huge factor in this pivotal Week 15 matchup, with the possible absence of either Hurts, Heinicke, and McLaurin likely deciding which team will pick up the win when all is said and done.
