Penn State vs. Michigan

  • When: Saturday, October 15th, 2022. 12:00pm EST.
  • Where: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, MI
  • College Football Odds: Penn State (-6.5) // Michigan (+6.5)

Fox has this noon kickoff from the Big Ten and we find out which team is the real challenger to Ohio State in the Big Ten East. I’m not sure anyone can touch the Buckeyes.

Last year, Michigan did win the Big Ten East and title and won at Penn State 21-17. Erick All hauled in a 47-yard touchdown pass from Cade McNamara with 3:29 left and outran Penn State defenders to the end zone for the winning score. McNamara, who is no longer the UM quarterback, completed 19 of 29 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns and Hassan Haskins ran for 156 yards on 31 carries. Roman Wilson caught a pair of touchdown passes for the Wolverines, who led 14-6 midway through the fourth quarter.

Penn State QB Sean Clifford, still the guy, withstood seven sacks, completing 23 of 43 for 205 yards and throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Warren with 7:35 to go. Clifford then tied it 14 when he connected with Jahan Dotson for a two-point conversion. He withstood seven sacks, completing 23 of 43 for 205 yards and throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Warren with 7:35 to go. These teams meet for the 25th time in program history. The Nittany Lions trail, 15-10, in the all-time series. Two of the last three contests have been decided by one possession.

Michigan ranks seventh in the nation in scoring offense (43.0 ppg) and 20th in the country in rushing offense, averaging 212.3 yards per game. The Wolverines also sit first in the country in completion percentage (.741). They rank fifth in the nation in scoring defense (11.3 ppg) and total defense (247.0), 11th in passing defense (165.3) and seventh in rushing defense (81.7). Penn State has held four of its five opponents under 100 rushing yards. The Nittany Lions rank fifth in the nation in rushing defense, allowing 79.6 yards per game.

2022 College Football Week 7 Pick: Michigan

Oklahoma State vs. TCU

  • When: Saturday, October 8th, 2022. 3:30pm EST.
  • Where: Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, TX
  • College Football Odds: Oklahoma State (+4.5) // TCU (-4.5)

Two unbeaten Big 12 teams meet from Fort Worth with the Frogs as 3.5-point favorites. Last year, the Cowboys killed TCU 63-17. Jaylen Warren ran for 103 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries in the first half as the Cowboys took a 28-3 lead. Oklahoma State gained 352 yards and held TCU to 162. The Cowboys took control by outscoring the Horned Frogs 21-0 in the second quarter. They closed out the first-half scoring with a 46-yard touchdown pass from Spencer Sanders to Blaine Green.

Saturday’s game marks the 33rd meeting between Oklahoma State and TCU, with the series dating to 1915. The 2022 season marks the 11th consecutive year the teams have met, beginning when TCU joined the Big 12 for the 2012 season. OSU owns a 17-13-2 all-time series advantage, while TCU holds an 8-5-2 advantage in games played in Fort Worth. OSU has won seven of the past 11 in the series, as well as two of the past three. Mike Gundy is 6-4 against TCU and Sonny Dykes is 0-0 as a head coach against the Cowboys.

OSU is 5-0 following a 41-31 win over Texas Tech last week. The Cowboys have the No. 4 scoring offense in the FBS at 45.2 points per game, ranks No. 1 in the FBS with 10.2 tackles for loss per game and is No. 6 in the FBS with 29.8 yards per kickoff return. On top of that, the Cowboys are No. 4 in the FBS in fewest penalties with just 21 total so far this season. The offense has leaned on four-year starting quarterback Spencer Sanders, as the senior now ranks No. 4 in the FBS with 22 points responsible for per game and No. 10 in the FBS with 327 yards of total offense per game.

Under first-year head coach Sonny Dykes, TCU is 5-0 for the first time since 2017 when Dykes was an assistant with the Frogs. TCU leads the nation in yards per play (8.1) and is third in scoring offense (46.4 ppg) and total offense (530.0 ypg).

TCU has trailed for a total of just 16:31 this season. The Horned Frogs fell behind Kansas for 1:07 in the third quarter last week, their first deficit since the opening 24 seconds of the second quarter of the season opener at Colorado. Saturday will mark TCU’s first home game as a ranked team against a ranked opponent since Oct. 7, 2017, when the No. 8 Horned Frogs beat No. 23 West Virginia, 31-24. TCU is playing a ranked opponent for a third consecutive game for the first time since the final three contests in 2015.
