Why Bet on the Alabama to Win the 2022 CFP National Championship

By Hank Blaine

On January 10, the two best teams in the SEC and the two best in the nation throw down in the 2022 College Football National Title game. The Alabama Crimson Tide ended Cincinnati’s dream of an undefeated season with a 27-6 win. Next Monday, the Tide face one of their biggest rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs. Keep reading for the top 5 reasons Nick Saban and Alabama Crimson Tide will win another national championship.

Top 5 Reasons the Alabama Crimson Tide Will Win the 2022 CFP National Championship

Bama dusted the Dawgs in the first game

Sure, John Metchie III was great in the SEC Championship and he won’t play on Jan. 10, but we shouldn’t look past the fact Alabama absolutely dusted Georgia. The Bulldogs entered the game a -6 to -6.5 favorite. Bama left the SEC Championship 41-24 winners. Metchie III doesn’t play defense and Alabama picked off Stetson Bennett twice. Not only that, but after Metchie III left, Alabama still moved the football.

Alabama’s offensive line can handle Georgia’s defensive line

Bama proved in the first game that they could handle Georgia’s defensive line. Not only did Bryce Young have a great game, but Alabama running backs rushed for a total of 115 yards. UGA’s defensive front seven must do something to stop Young and the offense. Based on the first game, and even the matchup against Cincinnati where the Tide rushed for 301 yards, the Bulldogs won’t accomplish their task.

Bryce Young won the Heisman Trophy for a reason

Bryce Young had one of the greatest seasons for a quarterback in college football history. Young threw for 4,503 yards and 43 TDs to just 4 interceptions. The Heisman Trophy winner dominated Georgia in the SEC title contest, throwing for 421 yards and 3 TDs. Bryce also rushed for 40 yards on 3 carries and a touchdown. So Kirby Smart and the Dawgs will have to do more than stop Young’s ability to throw if they hope to beat the Tide.

Alabama owns the Georgia Bulldogs

Bama has won 6 straight against the Bulldogs. The 6 straight victories includes a win in the 2017 National Championship. There’s another trend in Alabama’s favor. The underdog is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings. That includes Alabama beating Georgia in this season’s SEC Championship as a +6 dog.

Nick Saban always beats his protégés

One of the reasons Alabama has been so dominant is because Kirby Smart worked for Nick Saban. Smart and the Bulldogs have trouble coming up with a game plan to stop the Crimson Tide’s offense. In the past few head-to-head matchups, it feels like Saban has been in Kirby’s head, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. Saban always beats his former assistants. In this case, Nick Saban has beaten Kirby Smart in the last six head-to-head contests, which means Alabama might be the team to back.
