Buffalo Bills 2022 NFL Draft Best First-Round Targets

By Carlos Chacon

Had it not been for the luck of the overtime coin flip (or lack thereof), the Buffalo Bills would’ve likely been the AFC’s representative in Super Bowl LVI. Alas; all the Bills can do is suck it up and retool in the offseason. They made big splashes in free agency already, namely the signing of Von Miller, which means that they’ll only need to address the one hole they have on defense: the cornerback position.

Ahmad Gardner – Cincinnati (CB)

The Rams don’t need much on offense outside of shoring up their offensive line. That being said, Louisiana’s Max Mitchell should still be available in the third round and could end up being a steal. At 6’6” and 307 lbs, Mitchell has drawn comparisons to Niners standout Mike McGlinchey for their size and consistency in pass protection.

Kaiir Elam – Florida (CB)

A more pressing need for LA is on the defense’s side of the ball, particularly in the secondary. Tennessee’s standout corner Alontae Taylor could turn out to be one hidden gem in a draft class filled with top-tier cornerbacks. Taylor’s not just a terrific defender who’s had prior experience as a receiver, but he’s also an academic standout with no baggage to deal with.

Bubba Bolden – Miami (CB)

Many experts project Washington’s Trent McDuffie as the fourth-best cornerback in the draft, which is just about the right time that the Bills will have with their first-round pick at 25th overall without having to move up for the likes of Gardner and Elam. A first-team All-Pac-12 selection, McDuffie has a great sense of tracking the ball that will transition nicely in the pros to make up for his relatively less-than-desirable 5-foot-11 frame.
