Why Bet on the L.A. Chargers?

There have been moments where the Chargers D has looked downright fantastic. The Bolts allowed the Jets to score 6 points in a win and shut out the Patriots in another victory. Even giving up 20 to Baltimore wasn’t bad.

But although the Chargers defense has played well in some games, for the most part, the D has let the team down. In their last, the Broncos dropped 24 onto LAC. The Lions scored 41 in a Chargers loss and the Chiefs scored 31 earlier this season.

The best thing we can write about Easton Stick’s performance is that he didn’t throw a pick. After filling in for Herbert, Stick completed 54.2% of his passes for 179 yards.

Easton didn’t throw a TD. So we don’t know what we’re going to get with Stick this Thursday night. If the Bolts lean on running back Austin Ekeler, they might have a shot, but if they rely on Stick, things could bog down.

Why Bet on the Las Vegas Raiders?

Antonio Pierce knows defense, which is why outside of allowing the Chiefs to score 31 points in a loss, the Raiders D has played well since Pierce became the interim head coach.

Vegas gave up just 20 points to Miami in a loss. Last Sunday, the Vikings scored 3 in a 3-0 loss to Minnesota. Vegas’ D plays with fire no matter the outcome. Pierce is a great motivator so Maxx Crosby and his mates will give it their all on Thursday night.

Aidan O’Connell and the Raiders offense could do nothing positive versus the Vikings defense. However, we’ve been saying it all season long and were sticking to the fact that Brian Flores is a defensive mastermind.

O’Connell should have more success against a Chargers defense that misses assignments and doesn’t play with much passion. The Bolts are out of the playoff hunt. So LAC could even be less enthusiastic about playing Vegas.

Yes, losing a starting quarterback has a drastic effect on your team. But how do we explain the losses to Green Bay, Baltimore, the Lions, and giving up 24 points to Denver at home? Herbert played in the losses to the Packers, Ravens, and Detroit.

Easton Stick doesn’t play defense. So we can’t blame Stick for Denver’s offensive outburst. The Chargers just don’t have it. Raiders win and cover.
