The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers square off in the Bay Area for a rematch of Super Bowl LIV as the two Lombardi Trophy chasers look to get back on the winning track. Why Bet on the Kansas City Chiefs?

Speaking of rematches from earlier, NFL fans were treated to a run-back of last season’s thrilling AFC Divisional Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. This time around, though, the Bills got their revenge and picked up a 24-20 victory in Arrowhead Week 6.

It was clear that Patrick Mahomes needed to be at his best to beat Josh Allen and the Bills for the second consecutive time. Mahomes did rack up 338 passing yards and two passing TDs against Buffalo, but only went 25-of-40 along with a pair of interceptions. The former league and Super Bowl MVP has now thrown four picks over his last four starts and will face yet another stout defense in Week 7.

The Chiefs better hope that the Niners’ offense doesn’t get pumped up in front of its home crowd this Sunday afternoon as well. KC ranks in the bottom third of the league having allowed an average of 34.8 points per game to their opponents and their five takeaways (third-least in the NFL) aren’t enough support from the D to give the offense more opportunities to blow things wide open.

Why Bet on the San Francisco 49ers?

Just when we thought the San Francisco 49ers were one of the best teams in the NFC, they come out of Week 6 with a 28-14 road upset at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. At 3-3, the 49ers join the rest of the NFC West’s pack still fending each other off for sole possession of the division lead.

Jimmy Garoppolo had another lackluster showing under center for San Fran. Although Garoppolo threw for 296 yards and two passing scores, he also threw a pair of INTs to stunt any momentum for a comeback. The Niners’ running game was held to just 50 rushing yards as well with the game script of a 14-point Falcons lead in the first quarter eliminating their biggest strength early on.

The 49ers committed three turnovers that afternoon in Atlanta, which luckily didn’t translate to points for the Falcons right after those TOs. The Niners have looked pretty bad on the road this season but a return to Levi’s Stadium might remedy their woes. Kansas City is a tough opponent ahead, though, which means San Francisco’s league-best defense (255.8 YAPG – first in the NFL; 23.0 PAPG – second) will need to be at its best against the most potent offense it’ll see this season thus far.

Chiefs vs. 49ers Expert Betting Predictions

While it’s always tempting to side with the Chiefs and Mahomes in any given situation, perhaps this is another week like last week’s matchup against the Bills wherein it might be wiser to side against the boys from Arrowhead. The Niners’ offense has been in quite a funk but its defense is still top-notch and they do tend to play better at home. Consider this a rare win as home dogs for the 49ers.
