Why Bet on the Indianapolis Colts?

No matter how ugly the games can be, the fact remains that the Indianapolis Colts have won back-to-back contests and now share a winning record to challenge the Tennessee Titans’ mark in the AFC South standings. The Colts prevailed with a 34-27 victory over another division rival the Jacksonville Jaguars this past Sunday to exact their revenge for a shutout loss in Week 2 to the very same Jags.

Indy’s biggest offseason signing, quarterback Matt Ryan, turned back the clock and had his best game of the season. The former league MVP completed 42 of 58 passes for 389 yards and three passing touchdowns without an interception, as Ryan willed his team without running backs Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines on the strength of his arm. In turn, Indy is currently averaging the fifth-most passing yards per game this season (266.2 PYPG).

It’s comforting to see that the Colts’ offense is finally clicking after many had considered the 37-year-old QB cooked. On the other hand, Indianapolis could still improve with the return of Taylor to aid the passing game, as well as stronger showings from its defense. The team’s defense houses the NFL’s leading tackler in linebacker Zaire Franklin (66 tackles) but remains in the middle of the pack in points and yards allowed. The Colts have also committed 11 turnovers (second-most in the league) and will need another clean outing from their starting QB.

Why Bet on the Tennessee Titans?

The Tennessee Titans’ scheduled bye on Week 6 can be seen as a double-edged sword. On one side, it derailed their momentum of three straight wins entering the bye. On the other hand, those three victories were far from impressive having won those contests by a mere average of 4.3 points against the likes of sub-.500 teams at the time in the Raiders, Commanders, and the aforementioned Colts.

For as long as former Offensive Player of the Year Derrick Henry is healthy, Tennessee’s run-heavy offense is in great shape. Henry ran for 102 rushing yards and two trips to the end zone in Week 5’s win over Washington and with his final TD run being a go-ahead score late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill also had an error-free day for the second straight week beginning with his two-TD performance in Week 4 at Indianapolis.

The Titans want nothing more than to humble the resurgent Colts. Recent history would have it that Tennessee is not only hard to beat on their own home turf, but the team has also gotten the better of Indy of late. It’s all a matter of whether or not the Colts jump out the gates as if the bye never happened, or they slog their way to a sloppy afternoon and play down to their competition.

  • The Titans are 8-2 in the last 10 regular-season home games (7-3 ATS).

  • The totals went under in five of the last six regular-season games played in Nashville.

Colts vs. Titans Expert Betting Predictions

The odds for this matchup are closer than they seem with the Titans being slight home favorites. That’s thanks in large part to the Colts’ strong showing these past couple of weeks despite missing its best offensive weapon. Then again, this seems more like an easy bet on the side of Tennessee, which hasn’t lost to Indy in nearly two years, especially if Jonathan Taylor isn’t cleared to play in Week 7 dealing with a nagging ankle injury.
