For the first time, the National Football League turns on the lights in the afternoon on Friday to play a Black Friday NFL game. The Miami Dolphins head to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Jets in what should be a terrific Friday football matchup. The game kicks off at 3:00 pm ET on November 24. The Jets hope a quarterback change from Zach Wilson to Tim Boyle will do the trick. The Dolphins know a victory over the rival Jets will take them a step closer to the AFC East title. Why Bet on the Miami Dolphins?

Earlier in the season, Miami was winning games with their offense. But lately, the defense has shined.

In their last 3 games, 2 wins and a close loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Miami Dolphins D has stepped it up big time. The Fins allowed Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and the strong Kansas City offense to score just 21 in a 21-14 KC win.

Before falling to the Chiefs, the Dolphins had held the Patriots to 17 in a 31-17 victory. Then in their last, the Fins defense held the Raiders to 17 points in a 21-17 score.

Although Miami’s offense hasn’t torn it up in the last couple of games, it’s done enough for the victories. Scoring 20 versus a decent defense like Vegas’s says a lot.

So does scoring 17 against the KC defense, which has become one of the better units in the AFC. Tua continues to light it up. Tagovailoa has thrown for 2,934 yards to go along with 21 touchdowns. Tua has thrown 8 interceptions, but the 21 touchdown throws are 1 less than Josh Allen.

Miami’s rushing attack is also fantastic. The Dolphins project to rush both Raheem Mostert and rookie sensation De’Von Archane if both play.

Why Bet on the New York Jets?

If the Jets are going to win this game, it will be because the Jets defense steps it up. Every victory in 2023, including upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles, which happens to be Philly’s lone loss this season, has been because of the Jets’ defense.

NYJ boasts one of the league’s top pass defenses. Opponents average just 178 passing yards per versus the Jets defense. The Jets allow just 20.4 points per game, which is incredible considering the offense hasn’t given the Jets D any help. Often the Jets must defend against short field.

Head coach Robert Saleh, like the Jets fans, had enough of Zach Wilson’s terrible play. Wilson doesn’t have it. Some great college quarterbacks can’t translate their play to the pro level. Z-dub is one of those QBs.

Tim Boyle may not have it either. But Boyle isn’t likely to do anything dumb on the field. Boyle will hand the ball off to Breece Hall, who is one of the league’s top running backs. If Hall gets going, who knows? Maybe, Boyle to Garrett Wilson becomes a thing.

The Fins don’t perform as well on the road as they do at home. Not only that, but Tim Boyle has a chance to impress his employer. There’s no way Boyle plays worse than the way Zach Wilson has played.

Still, the Jets give up a lot of rushing yards. So, the Dolphins should have a decent game on the ground. Ah, but if the Fins are running the ball, the clock is ticking. Taking the points on the home team is the way to play this one. Jets +10 is the call.
