Why Bet on the Philadelphia Eagles?

The Philadelphia Eagles had a valiant effort in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Chargers, who barely escaped the City of Brotherly Love with a 27-24 victory. It was Philadelphia’s fourth loss in five games as the team is now a distant 3.5 games behind the Dallas Cowboys for the NFC East division lead.

The Eagles exploited LA’s leaky run defense, as they amassed 176 rushing yards as a whole. Second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts accounted for 62 of those yards for the ground on 10 carries during an afternoon wherein his team put up just 162 passing yards and one TD through the air. Only Devonta Smith stood out from Philly’s receiving platoon, with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner hauling in five catches for 116 receiving yards and Hurts’ lone TD pass.

Defense remains an issue for the Eagles, who are giving up an average of 24.2 points per game this season (12th-worst in the NFL). Their eight total forced turnovers for the season is also tied for fourth-fewest in the league. On the bright side, Philly’s offense has done a relatively good job protecting the ball, as only the Vikings and the Seahawks have fewer takeaways than the Eagles’ seven gimmes this season.

Why Bet on the Denver Broncos?

Make that back-to-back wins for the Denver Broncos, who just handed the Dallas Cowboys their worst home loss in recent memory by way of a 30-16 win this past weekend. Denver is back over the .500 threshold and well in the thick of the AFC West’s heated pennant race.

Similar to the Eagles in Week 9, the Broncos used their running game to trample over Dallas’ defenses. They racked up 190 rushing yards on 41 carries, with rookie Javonte Williams putting up his first-ever 100-yard rushing game in the NFL (111 yards) and veteran Melvin Gordon going for 80 rushing yards and a score. Teddy Bridgewater was calm under center as well, throwing for 249 passing yards and a TD to Tim Patrick, who led all Denver receivers with 85 receiving yards.

Who would’ve thought that trading franchise cornerstone defender Von Miller would improve the Broncos’ defense? They’ve held each of their last opponents to 17 points or less, including relatively potent offenses from the Cowboys and Browns. The Broncos are 3-0 in their matchups against NFC East teams this season and are well in line to complete the division sweep against a struggling Philadelphia side.

Eagles vs. Broncos Betting Trends

  • The Eagles are 3-2 on the road this season (SU/ATS), but have lost eight of the last 10 road games overall (2-8 ATS as well).
  • The Eagles are 0-7-1 in the last eight games against teams from the AFC (1-7 ATS).
  • The totals went over in five of those Philly games versus AFC opponents.
  • The Broncos are just 2-5 over the last seven home games (3-4 ATS).
  • The Broncos are 7-3 in the last 10 games wherein they were favored to win (6-4 ATS).
  • The totals went under in each of Denver’s last three outings.

Eagles vs. Broncos Expert Betting Predictions

Expect a highly competitive game between these two teams on Sunday, with an emphasis on lots of action on the ground considering Mile High’s notorious altitude. The Eagles do have a serviceable offense to keep up with Denver’s own, which should serve as another solid test for the Broncos’ defense sans Von Miller. All things considered, Denver has the slight advantage in this matchup, but an outright upset win for Philly is still a possibility.
