That’s the lesson we learned after watching Patrick Mahomes and his mates score another Vince Lombardi Trophy on February 12. Heading into the 2024-2025 NFL Season, which begins in early March although regular season play doesn’t begin until early September, the Niners and KC are the two favorites to win the hardware in 2025. Philadelphia started out like gangbusters last season, winning their first 10-of-11 games, including beating the Chiefs in Kansas City.

But down the stretch, the defense imploded. The problem? For some reason, veteran defenders for the Eagles forgot how to take the correct angles in pursuit and forgot how to tackle. It was the strangest thing football fanatics had seen in a long time.

Knowing the problem, head coach Nick Siriani wasted no time. Defensive coordinating genius Vic Fangio has been tasked to overhaul the unit. Fangio already has his sights set on soon to be free agent linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel, who Fangio helped developed into an emerging star.

Adding Van Ginkel to the linebacker room could make the all the difference. With a better defense, the Eagles become a solid Super Bowl play. At 18-to-1 odds, Philadelphia is the best overlay on the board.

It makes no sense to go against the Kansas City Chiefs. If the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins couldn’t beat the Chiefs even though KC’s offensive line was banged up for most of the playoffs and it took Patrick Mahomes an entire season to find a legit WR1 target, forget it.

Andy Reid’s bunch will find a way. The best hope is for a team like the Eagles, or the Lions, keep reading for the third choice, upsets the Magician, Taylor’s boyfriend, and never call us the Chefs again dynasty in the Super Bowl. The AFC can’t get by Kansas City. So there’s no use choosing an AFC team.

Third Pick to Win Super Bowl 59

In the NFC Championship, Detroit had the San Francisco 49ers on the ropes. Although we can debate the moves Kyle Shanahan made in the Super Bowl, there’s no debate when it comes to some of the decisions Campbell made in the NFC title game.

If Campbell improves his decision-making, and, yes, it’s all on the head coach, Detroit should be one of the teams to beat in the NFC. The Lions are loaded on both sides of the ball. Also, Motor City got a taste of success. So there will be few teams as motivated to win the Lombardi as the Lions.

Top Underdog Pick to Win Super Bowl 59

Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams will be better. Matthew Stafford proved he’s got at least two more excellent seasons. The defense has a young, emerging star in young linebacker Ernest Jones, and Aaron Donald will be back because he knows that the Rams have a shot to be excellent.

Don’t sleep on L.A. this season. Sean McVeigh’s squad is an impact player or two away from overtaking the Niners and winning the NFC West. The Rams have a much better shot of winning the Lombardi than the 35-to-1 odds imply.
