Why Bet on the Green Bay Packers?

After another slow start to a new football season with a Week 1 road loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers picked up their first win in Week 2 with a 27-10 thrashing of the Chicago Bears. It was Green Bay’s seventh consecutive victory over Chicago; a streak that began back in the 2019 season.

Aaron Rodgers was his usual self against the team that he claims to own, completing 19 of 25 passes for a pair of touchdowns through the air. However, Rodgers wasn’t the only Aaron that had his way against the Bears, as running back Aaron Jones dealt even more damage to the Bears’ wounded egos. Jones averaged a whopping 8.8 yards-per-carry and finished with 132 rushing yards on just 15 touches, one rushing TD, and one receiving TD.

The Packers’ defense also rebounded from a dismal effort in Week 1 by holding the Bears to just 10 points and 228 yards of total offense on Sunday Night Football. This unit will have a lot on its plate trying to contain a Buccaneers offense that’s also excelling in both the pass and the run of late.

Why Bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

Speaking of slow starts, that’s what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got themselves in during their Week 2 divisional showdown against the New Orleans Saints. But unlike the Packers, the Buccaneers closed the deal with a 20-10 win on the road and with 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to break up a 3-3 tie at the end of the third to stay undefeated across the first two games of the season.

Tom Brady was visibly frustrated with his offense for the first three frames, but that only motivated Tampa Bay’s offense down the stretch just enough to pick up a win. Brady merely threw for 190 yards and a passing score while running back Leonard Fournette garnered just 65 rushing yards on 24 carries. Thanks to a smashing season debut in Week 1, though, Fournette still has the fifth-most rushing yards through two weeks of action (192).

The real MVP for Tampa Bay, though, was its league-leading defense that sacked New Orleans QB Jameis Winston six times and forced a staggering five Saints turnovers. With Green Bay’s offense still not having reached its full potential just yet, the Bucs’ stout D may decide this epic Week 3 blockbuster.

Packers vs. Buccaneers Betting Trends

  • The Packers are shockingly 1-4 in the last five road games (SU/ATS).
  • The Packers are 3-2 in the last five matchups against Tampa Bay (2-3 ATS) but did lose the last two meetings.
  • The totals went over in three of Green Bay’s last four outings away from Lambeau.
  • The Buccaneers are 9-1 in the last 10 regular-season home games (8-2 ATS).
  • The Bucs are 6-1 SU in the last 7 games.
  • The totals have gone under in four of the last seven games played in Raymond James Stadium, including the playoffs.

Packers vs. Buccaneers Expert Betting Predictions

Considering that Brady has a 3-1 lifetime record against Rodgers, it’s only fitting that the Bucs are favored to win at home where they’ve been extremely dominant. However, the odds would indicate that this will be a tight affair wire-to-wire and we shouldn’t count A-Rod out at that, especially since he’s coming off a morale-boosting beatdown of the Bears that’s been his recent claim to fame.
