A pair of playoff contenders from the AFC last season will do battle in Nashville this week, as the Tennessee Titans host the Las Vegas Raiders. Both the Raiders and the Titans have yet to win this new NFL campaign, but only one team will pick up its first W of the season when the dust settles in Music City on Sunday.

Why Bet on the Las Vegas Raiders?

All of Jalen Hurts’ naysayers are probably eating crow right now, as the Philadelphia Eagles stayed undefeated after picking up a dominant 24-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings under the primetime lights of Monday Night Football.

Hurts appears to have taken that next huge step as an NFL-level quarterback, as the third-year gunslinger out of Oklahoma went 26-of-31 for 33 passing yards and a passing touchdown along with two more rushing TDs. Philadelphia’s rushing attack put up 163 rushing yards as a team against a stingy Minnesota front seven and is now ranked second in the league with an average of 189.5 rushing yards per contest.

Arguably the more impressive showing from the Eagles’ camp is their defense, which picked off Minny’s Kirk Cousins three times and held the Vikings to just seven points after routing the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. However, Philly has got to be cautious about Washington’s potential to surprise with their own scrappy offensive production.

Why Bet on the Tennessee Titans?

The Washington Commanders crashed back down to Earth this past weekend, as they couldn’t capitalize on their win on Week 1 over the Jacksonville Jaguars with a 36-27 road loss to the Lions in Detroit. Nonetheless, Washington’s offense is keeping the team in the thick of the battle thanks to the arrival of Carson Wentz.

Wentz had another strong passing performance, completing 20 of 46 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns. But like Hurts, the former Super Bowl champion also threw a pick in Week 2 to put a blemish on an otherwise stellar outing. Washington’s running attack needs improvement, though, as the team mustered up just 88 rushing yards in 21 combined carries.

Defense is also a concern for the Commanders, as just one forced turnover (none against the Lions) over the first two weeks isn’t a good look. They also rank in the bottom-third of the league in yards and points allowed to opponents per contest, which means Wentz will have to air it out all afternoon to keep pace with Philly’s resurgent offense.

It’s hard to bet against Philadelphia given the team’s strong showing out the gates of the 2022 NFL season. Then again, Washington has been covering the spread relatively well, making this Week 3 clash as unpredictable as it is a crucial divisional matchup to keep tabs on. It also happens to be Wentz’s revenge game against his former team, and that might be enough for bettors to lean more in Washington’s favor.
