Super Bowl 56 Expert Predictions

FOX Sports

Geoff Schwartz Rams of FOX Sports initially had the Bengals winning being the crafty underdogs that they are this postseason, but ultimately decided to go with the (-4) favorites the Rams instead.

Although Schwartz has been amazed by the amazing body of work that Cincinnati QB Joe Burrow has done in the playoffs, he’s more confident that Los Angeles’ pass rush will be too much to overcome against Cincy’s rather porous offensive line. He predicts the Rams will hoist the Lombardi when all is said and done mainly by winning the battle in the trenches.

Sporting News

Six of Sporting News’ top analysts and contributors chimed in with their predictions for Super Bowl 56, namely Vinnie Iyer, Bill Bender, Matt Lutovsky, Joe Rivera, Jacob Camenker, and Edward Sutelan. The Rams got the majority of the panel’s votes, 4-2, with Iyer and Sutelan being in the minority by siding with the Bengals.

Iyer predicted that Cincy will win by a mere field-goal deficit, whereas Sutelan sees the team winning by seven full points. Both men praised Burrow’s poise under pressure and the surrounding weapons he has in the passing game. Meanwhile, they also foresee the Rams start to crumble in the second half with veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford committing costly turnovers down the stretch to swing the game in the Bengals’ favor.

FiveThirtyEight

Last but not least, the sophisticated analytical technology provided by the folks from FiveThirtyEight calculated that the Rams have a 68 percent chance of winning Super Bowl 56. Furthermore, the site’s program also estimated that Los Angeles’ Elo point spread is minus-5.5, which is a full point higher than the standard odds against the spread in the sportsbooks.

All things considered, it appears as though the Rams are truly living up to their status as hometown favorites to seal the deal this Sunday in SoFi Stadium. Then again, the Bengals have their fair share of backers and are not considered to be totally outmatched in this showdown, which means there are plenty of fans still placing huge stakes on the underdogs who are still in search of their first-ever Lombardi Trophy.
