Who Has the Best Chance to Win the 2021 UEFA Champions League

The current champions, Bayern Munich, return to defend the title. They didn’t have much of a difficult time in the group phase, even though Atletico Madrid was in that group as well. But this time, there are three other German teams looking to become the title holder, making the stakes even higher for the champion.

Right behind the champions are Manchester City. Although their current season isn’t the best they’ve had and might even head to play Europa League next season, they’re looking to bring the opposite balance to the tournament. When looking back at their recent past performances, they’ve failed to beat the underdog in the past two tournaments. And it’s hard for them to get passed the quarter finals. So, be careful if you bet on this team.

Liverpool takes the third spot in the 2021 Champions League odds favorites. As of now, they are tied at the top of the Premier League with Manchester United and they won the Champions League in 2019 against Tottenham Hotspur. So they definitely are coming back with eyes set on getting back the title to England.

Looking at a couple of other countries within the tournament, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus could be a surprise this time around. PSG was in the finals last season, but couldn’t take the win. It ended 1-0 against Bayern Munich. They definitely want to bring the trophy to France this time around, and they might do that already having their recent experience. In the case of Juventus, they’ve had and fair season, currently in forth place of Serie A. Their last Champions League final was in 1996, when they won. It’s a tough road ahead for Juventus, but they have a solid line-up that can make it happen.

Chelsea and Real Madrid follow in line with the favorites, as they are tied in the Champions League odds. Real Madrid has the most titles in Champions League history. But that doesn’t necessarily guarantee they will make it to the finals. I wouldn’t rule them out entirely, since the team is managed by Zidane and always has kept a great team. On the other hand, a team such as Chelsea doesn’t really seem to have much of an edge this time around. They are currently not doing well in this season’s Premier League and might be out of the tournament sooner than later.

As mentioned previously, they are three other German teams in this tournament. Usually we see two, maybe three, but this brings the German teams to an equal spot to win it for the country. Borussia Dortmund has been in the finals before, winning one in 1997, then losing one in 2013. They have enough experience to create a threat for the other German teams. Borussia Monchengladbach was a runner up back in 1977 against Liverpool, who won their first European Cup. And lastly, RB Leipzig is one that could be the surprise. They will able to make it to the semi-finals in 2020, but lost to PSG. It’s definitely not their first rodeo and could bring a hefty payoff if they win and are able to cover the spread. Keep an eye out for them.

2021 UEFA Champions League Betting Pick

It might be a bit early to call, taking into consideration that the odds might change, depending on each team’s performance in their respective domestic leagues. This could create an interesting outcome for teams that haven’t been able to lift the trophy. If I had to put my bet, I would go for Bayern Munich repeating as champions. Their performance during the group phase was really strong, proving they can defend the title.

But keep Manchester City into consideration as well, where they too also had a great group phase and it might be their last Champions League for a while if they don’t recuperate and get things in order.
