2022 Advent Health 400 NASCAR Odds, Preview, and Prediction

By Hank Blaine

When NASCAR drivers rev their engines, Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott will be looking to make it two straight victories. Elliott grabbed the checkered flags at the last event, the DuraMAX Drydene 400 at Dover International Speedway on May 1. Opening odds list Elliott as a co-third choice with Denny Hamlin. Will Chase win another race? Or is a different driver destined to cross the finish line first?

Top Choice to Win the 2022 Advent Health 400

It’s tough not to like Chris Elliott to win this race. The Hendrick Motorsports driver had an excellent fifth place finish at the Buschy McBusch last year. Elliott finished better than any of his Hendrick teammates.

So far this year, Chase has clocked 9 finishes in the top 10, and 3 finishes in the top 5. On May 1, Elliott took the checkered flag at Dover. He followed up that victory with a fifth place finish at Darlington on May 5. What impresses is that Chase started the race in thirty-fourth place. He made up a lot of positions to finish fifth, which tells us he and his crew are sitting on a big effort.

Second Top Choice to Win the 2022 Advent Health 400

The odds on Kevin Harvick make him an overlay. Stewart-Haas Racing’s top driver is sitting on a massive effort. Harvick finished tenth at Talladega, ninth at Dover, and fourth at Darlington. Like Elliott, Harvick started the race at Darlington in a bad position, thirty-fifth. Also like Elliott, Harvick made up a ton of ground to finish in the top 5. At last year’s race at Kansas Speedway, Harvick finished second behind Kyle Busch. He can turn the tables for sure. Don’t be surprised if Harvick crosses the finish line first. The +1800 odds are more than fair.

Third Top Choice to Win the 2022 Advent Health 400

Busch’s thirty-third at Darlington disappointed, especially, because Kyle Busch started in fifth place. But before the Darlington flub, Busch had been racing great, clocking a victory over the Bristol dirt, finishing third at Talladega, and finishing seventh at Dover. Kyle can turn it around for sure. But he’s no better than the third best choice because Elliott and Harvick should provide excellent performances. If you truly believe in Busch, back him with confidence. But if you’re on the fence, either Harvick or Elliott are better plays to take the checkered flag.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2022 Advent Health 400

Christopher “Baby Face” Bell has 3 top 10 finishes in the last 4 NASCAR events. After winning the pole, Bell finished seventh over Bristol’s dirt. Then at Dover, Bell finished fourth and then at Darlington, he finished sixth. Bell ended up twenty-eigth at the 2021 Buschy McBusch. But he started eighth. Another top ten start should lead to a much better finish this year than last. Bell has a real chance of winning the Advent Health 400. Don’t overlook Baby Face.
