By Hank Blaine

Every year, the NFL produces new stars on offense. Quarterback, running back, and wide receiver rookies change the fortunes of the teams that drafted them. This season is no exception. But unlike in past seasons when QBs dominated NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year talk, most believe a wide receiver wins the award. Check out the NFL odds for the top contenders, underdogs, and Offensive ROY picks.

Top Pick to Win the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award

In Tennessee, former Arkansas Razorback Treylon Burkes immediately becomes Ryan Tannehill’s top target. Not only that, but a wide receiver winning Rookie of the Year happened last season.

Cincinnati wideout Ja’Marr Chase won in 2021. The year before, Chargers’ quarterback Justin Herbert won the award and the year before that, Arizona QB Kyler Murray won the ROY.

Kenny Pickett may not even start the season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, making Treylon a top pick. Burkes should get the most looks in the Titans’ offensive system. Unlike rookie receivers on other teams, he’s the immediate top wideout.

The fact Tennessee traded A.J. Brown and then drafted Burkes tells us how highly they view the former Hog. The 6’ 3” and 225 pounds receiver should have a monster rookie season.

Second Top Pick to Win the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award

Breece Hall is in camp. The rookie running back from Oklahoma State had held out of the New York Jets’ training camp but as of July 19, Hall is there. Hall won’t get touches right away. Michael Carter had a promising rookie season. But Carter doesn’t possess the cut back ability, and he doesn’t catch ball as well, as Hall.

If the Jets decide to go with Hall as their RB1 and then bring Carter off the bench, the best scenario for NYJ’s offense, Breece will have a shot to be the first running back rookie to win theROY since Saquon Barkley in 2018.

Third Top Pick to Win the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award

Unless Michael Thomas isn’t one-hundred percent, Chris Olave will start the season in the New Orleans Saints’ offense the WR2. But as Jameis Winston’s second target, Olave could have a huge season.

New Orleans plans on opening up the playbook for Jameis. Now that Winston knows how to protect the football, offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael has gotten the greenlight from head coach Dennis Allen to let Winston throw.

Jameis has other targets, Marquez Callaway has legit speed, Thomas is back in the fold, and Jarvis Landry catches everything thrown his way. Also, Alvin Kamara has some of the best hands in football for a running back.

But Olave has the moves, the soft grip, and the route running ability to make Winston look good. Jameis will get the Ohio State product the ball. So if you’re looking for value, Olave might be the pick.

Underdog Pick to Win the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Award

Jahan Dotson offers overlay odds. The Washington Commander wide receiver should be closer to +1400 than +1800. For sure, Terry McLaurin, who just got a massive contract extension, is Washington’s top wide receiver.

But with the WR1 designation comes attention, which means Dotson will be left on an island. The Penn State product doesn’t have Megatron size, he’s 5’ 11” and 182 pounds, but Dotson can fly.

New starting quarterback Carson Wentz will throw to Dotson enough for the wideout to attract ROY attention. If you’re looking for the top overlay on the board, Jahan is your guy.
