NASCAR heads to Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee this Saturday for the next event at the 2023 NASCAR Cup Playoffs, the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. Last season, underdog Chris Buescher took home the top prize. Buescher isn’t an underdog this year. But Chris isn’t the favorite either. Hendrick drivers Kyle Larson and William Byron are the chalks. 2022 Bass Pro Shops Night Race Recap
The reason Larson and Byron are the favorites to win the 2023 Bass Pro Shops Night Race is because two Hendrick drivers finished second and third in last year’s event. Chase Elliott finished second, followed by William Byron in third.
Kyle Larson finished fifth. Fourth place went to Christopher Bell. Ross Chastain finished sixth and A.J. Allmendinger finished seventh. Cole Custer, Denny Hamlin, and Kevin Harvick rounded out the first ten.
Top Choice to Win the 2023 Bass Pro Shops Night Race
Denny Hamlin had a rough time of it at both Daytona and Darlington but last week at Kansas Speedway, Denny almost got the win. Hamlin finished second behind first place Tyler Reddick.
The finish is a sign Hamlin is on the cusp of a victory. Denny started eighth and has won at Bristol in the past, which explains why he’s a solid +750 choice.
If Hamlin continues his excellent driving, and his crew makes the right calls, Denny can lift the Bass Pro Shops Night Race trophy.
Second Choice to Win the 2023 Bass Pro Shops Night Race
In the last three races, at Dayton, at Darlington, and at Kansas, Kyle has finished seventh, eleventh, and seventh. So it’s interesting that Kyle offers +1200 odds to win on Saturday night.
One of the reasons for the juicy odds could be because Busch finished thirty-second in the first race at Kansas Speedway. However, we should throw out that race because in the past, while driving for Joe Gibbs, Kyle Busch has performed well over the Bristol track.
The odds on Kyle are better than the odds on Denny. So if you believe the younger Busch goes back to his winning ways, consider making Kyle your top choice.
Third Choice to Win the 2023 Bass Pro Shops Night Race
In 2022, Keselowski finished a decent thirteenth in this. But last year’s performance isn’t why so many are on Brad Keselowski to get it done on Saturday night.
Keselowski finished second at Daytona, sixth at Darlington, and ninth at Kansas in the last 3 races. The string of top ten finishes impresses big time. The second at Daytona appears to have been the catalyst.
If Keselowski shows the same form that he has shown in NASCAR’s last 3 Cup races, he can win. Action, though, has been heavy on Keselowski. So we can't endorse considering the odds.
Top Underdog to Win the 2023 Bass Pro Shops Night Race
The top underdog choice to win the Bass Pro Shops Night Race crossed the finish line fifth at Kansas Speedway in NASCAR’s last. Joey Logano can for sure build upon the finish to take the checkered flag in this.
The fifteenth finish Logano secured in this last year wasn’t terrible. Also, Joey finished fifth at Daytona and twelfth at Darlington, which means Logano is in great form. Give the dog a better shot to win this than the 14-to-1 odds imply.
