2022 F1 Hungarian GP Recap

Although Max didn’t win the pole, Mercedes driver George Russell did, Verstappen won the race. Max started tenth, but he didn’t let that deter him from beating his rivals.

Russell fell from first to third. Russell’s Mercedes teammate, Lewis Hamilton, finished second behind Verstappen. Fourth place went to Carlos Sainz Jr. and fifth went to Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez.

Top Pick to Win the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix

It took Max Verstappen a few races, but he’s back to being as dominant as he was in 2022. Verstappen has won 6 straight after switching off victories with teammate Sergio Perez.

Max is driving like he always does, a man possessed with taking checkered flags. Sure, this could be the race where Verstappen doesn’t perform. But at -300, he might be an overlay.

So unless you have a good feeling about a different driver, consider backing the chalk.

Second Pick to Win the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton had a great 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix. Lewis didn’t win, but few drivers beat Red Bull and Max Verstappen last year.

Lewis did cross the line second. The form suggests Hamilton has a chance. The second pick finished third at the Canadian Grand Prix. Then in the next, at the Austrian Grand Prix, Hamilton finished eighth.

Hamilton stepped it up in front of his country people in the British Grand Prix, finishing third behind second place Lando Norris and winner Verstappen.

Third Pick to Win the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix

Sergio Perez started out well, winning the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Although Sergio hasn’t won since Azerbaijan, he did race well in Canada when finishing third.

Then in the last, Perez managed a sixth place finish in the British Grand Prix. Sergio must step it up to win a podium spot. He could for sure. But the odds make him unplayable to put on top given the recent form.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix

George Russell not only won the pole at last year’s British Grand Prix, but he also managed a podium finish when crossing the line in third.

Eventually, George is going to break out with a win. It could happen on Sunday. If you’re looking to back an underdog, you could do worse than go with the 2022 pole sitter.
