The 2023 Mexico Open at Vidanta dates back to 1944 when it was commonly referred to as simply the Mexico Open. The tournament has been a fixture of the Latin American pro tour from 2013 to 2021 before becoming an official PGA TOUR event last year, with the winner of the event receiving 500 FedExCup points and, of course, a sizeable paycheck.
A huge prize purse worth $7.7 million is at stake this week in Vidanta Villarta. That’s a $400,000 increase from last season’s $7.3 million payout, which goes to show that the PGA TOUR truly values the only tournament played in Mexico.
