The 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic is one of the newer tournaments on the PGA TOUR calendar having joined the yearly rotation in 2019. It’s the first and only PGA TOUR event to be held in the city of Detroit, with the Detroit Golf Club slowly becoming one of the more favored venues by novice and experienced golfers alike.
A huge prize purse worth $8.8 million is at stake in the Motor City this week. That’s a $400,000 increase from last year’s edition of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which was won by Tony Finau. Finau took home over $1.5 million for his then-fourth career PGA TOUR victory.
