2022 F1 Singapore GP Recap

The 2022 Singapore Grand Prix was one of the few races where Max Verstappen lost but also didn’t perform well. Max didn’t even grab a podium spot.

The good news for Red Bull is that the racing outfit’s second driver, Sergio Perez, earned the checkered flag. Perez won the event, while Ferrari finished second and third via Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr.

Lando Norris finished fourth, followed by Daniel Ricciardo in fifth. Verstappen followed Lance Stroll in six when finishing in seventh place. Lewis Hamilton finished ninth.

Top Pick to Win the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix

At the Italian Grand Prix, Sergio Perez went back to his second place ways. Perez won a couple of races earlier in the season, but since then has failed to impress. In Italy, Perez finish second behind Verstappen.

For sure, Sergio will require some luck to beat his constructor teammate. On Perez’s side is the fact he won this event in 2022. Also in Sergio’s corner is that Verstappen is gong for his eleventh straight win.

Winning ten straights is remarkable. Winning eleven sounds impossible. So things might be lining up perfectly for Red Bull’s B driver to get it done.

Second Pick to Win the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc finished second in this event last year. So Charles knows how drive over the convoluted course.

Also, Leclerc finished third behind Perez in second and Verstappen in third at the Italian Grand Prix. Leclerc may be on the verge of a victory. If Charles continues his upward move, he can secure the checkered flag. In addition, the odds make Leclerc an overlay. So take the odds into account when handicapping.

Third Pick to Win the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix

Max Verstappen should win. Of course, Max should win. But in this last year, Verstappen didn’t do a lot. So, maybe, Max has trouble navigating this specific course.

Or, maybe, after dominating in ten straight, Verstappen takes a mental breather that leads to a fifth or worse finish.

Either way, it feels like the right time to go against the champ. The odds on Verstappen are fair, though. So if you feel differently, confidently back Max to attend an eleventh straight trophy presentation.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix

Carlos Sainz not only finished third in this last season, but he had a great Italian Grand Prix run. Both of Ferrari’s drive performed well, with Leclerc finishing third and Sainz finishing fourth.

Before the Italian GP, at the Dutch Grand Prix, Sainz finished a decent fifth. So, for sure, Carlos Sainz deserves a long look to get it done. In addition, the odds make the top underdog more than playable.
