Lamar an MVP Nevermore?
It was a rather cursed 2021 NFL season for Lamar Jackson, who was banged up and looked off for most of the campaign. Jackson threw a career-worst 13 interceptions and started just 12 of 17 regular-season games, with the Ravens missing out on the postseason as well due to Lamar’s untimely season-ending ankle injury. Nevertheless, the 2019 league MVP is currently a (+2,200) sleeper candidate in his own right to win his second-career MVP award this year.
Another Baltimore player who deserves some MVP candidate hype is Jackson’s favorite target in tight end Mark Andrews. The two-time Pro Bowl selection also became a First-Team All-Pro selection for the first time last season after racking up 107 catches for a whopping 1,361 receiving yards (both career-highs) along with nine receiving touchdowns.
The defense, which is the bread-and-butter of the Ravens organization, also has a couple of noteworthy names who could emerge as the best player in all of football in 2022. Veteran defensive tackle Calais Campbell could have a bounce-back season to remember at the tender age of 35. Meanwhile, shutdown cornerback Marlon Humphrey is also prepared for a comeback as the two-time Pro Bowl selection looks to have a healthy and solid campaign after playing just 12 games in 2021.
