Why Bet on the Buffalo Bills?

The Buffalo Bills needed to win their get-right game in Week 15, and they did so with a rather convincing 31-14 road victory over the Carolina Panthers. With the win, the Bills snapped their two-game losing streak that began with a grinding loss to the Patriots and ended with a heartbreaking overtime defeat to the Buccaneers.

Josh Allen threw three touchdowns for his fifth game of three passing TDs or more this season. However, Allen struggled a bit against Carolina’s defense, as he completed just 19 of 34 passes for 210 yards and an interception. Thankfully, Buffalo called Devin Singletary’s number in the backfield, as Singletary finished with 22 carries, 86 rushing yards, and one score on the ground for a Bills team lacking a strong running game.

On an even better note, the Bills’ defense was back up to par after the Bucs hung 33 points on them in Week 14. They’re still tops in the NFL allowing an average of just 287.9 yards per game and second in points only behind the Patriots (17.4 PAPG). Count on Sunday’s clash at Foxborough to be another grindy defensive battle similar to their drenched battle in Orchard Park a couple of weeks ago.

Why Bet on the New England Patriots?

It seems that the New England Patriots have met their match. Bill Belichick’s gang saw their seven-game win streak come to an end after the Indianapolis Colts handed them a 27-17 beating. That defeat is costly for New England, to say the least, as the team gives Buffalo a shot at reclaiming the summit of the AFC East with a win on Sunday.

The Colts gave the Patriots a taste of their own medicine by winning convincingly despite Indy’s five completions for 57 passing yards the entire contest. The Patriots’ top-ranked scoring defense had no answers for Indy’s Jonathan Taylor, who bulldozed their front seven for 170 rushing yards and a score. It goes to show that the Pats’ elite defense can just as easily be countered by an opposing and equally intimidating defense.

That being said, it’s time for rookie QB Mac Jones to take his game to a new level. Jones was picked off twice by the Colts, marking only the second time this season that he’s thrown two or more interceptions in a game. The gunslinger from Alabama needs to start taking more risks through the air for his team that ranks just 16th in the league in yardage (347.9 YPG) in order for the Pats to fully state that they’re back in elite Super Bowl contention form after the glory years of the Brady era.

Bills vs. Patriots Betting Trends

  • The Bills are 4-3 on the road this season (SU/ATS).
  • The Bills are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings against New England since 2016 (4-7 ATS).
  • The totals went over in four of Buffalo’s last six games in general.
  • The Patriots have won three straight home games after losing their first four homestands of the season (4-3 ATS).
  • The Pats have won six consecutive contests wherein they were favored to win (5-1 ATS).
  • The totals went over in each of New England’s last four home games.

Bills vs. Patriots Expert Betting Predictions

History would have it that the Patriots have been dominant against the Bills in their enduring divisional rivalry. On the other hand, it’s Buffalo who has the winning momentum heading into their Week 15 showdown and the team’s running game is also getting it going to possibly give the Pats’ front seven another tough test. All things considered, this should be another tight battle with huge implications in the wild card standings and the divisional race alike.
