Rakhimov vs. Cordina – Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff, Wales (DAZN)

  • When: Saturday, April 22, 2023. 2:00pm ET.

Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov vs. Joe Cordina // IBF Junior Lightweight Title

Rakhimov and Cordina will enter the ring at Cardiff International Arena in Cardiff, Wales, with undefeated records. Rakhimov is 17-0-1.

The underdog in this has won 2 straight via stoppage, a referee technical decision over Sardor Muzaffarov and a ninth-round technical knockout of Zelfa Barrett in his last. Also, Rakhimov drew against then 31-1 Joseph Diaz in 2021.

Joe Cordina is 15-0 with 9 knockout wins. Cordina has dominated his competition. The champ knocked out Kenichi Ogawa with a lead right hand, a single punch, in his last. Rakhimov won’t go down easily, but he doesn’t have the boxing skills to deal with a fighter on Cordina’s level. T e chalk wins.

Boxing Betting Pick: Joe Cordina -270

Davis vs. Garcia – T Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, NV (PPV)

  • When: Saturday, April 22, 2023. 8:00pm ET.

Elijah Lorenzo Garcia vs. Kevin Salgado Zambrano

Garcia takes on Zambrano on the Davis versus Garcia undercard. Garcia is a massive chalk to put a beating onto Salgado. The 14-0 fighter has won 12 via stoppage.

Zambrano, though, is no joke. The major underdog is 15-1-1 with 10 knockout or technical knockout wins. Zambrano is good, but Garcia is great. Elijah has the look of a future world titlist. He should hand Zambrano the veteran’s first knockout loss.

Boxing Betting Pick: Elijah Lorenzo Garcia -1667

Bektemir Melikuziev vs. Gabriel Rosado

Gabriel Rosado is a tough fighter. Rosado might be one of the toughest boxers on the planet. But Rosado now has a 26-16-1 record.

If you want to back Gabriel, know that the last victory came against Bektemir Melikuziev. Rosado won via knockout. The loss was Melikuziev’s first and only.

Since the loss, the favorite in this has rallied to four straight wins. Melikuziev gets it done. Don’t be surprised if, because this is a revenge bout, the chalk knocks out the dog before the sixth.

Boxing Betting Pick: Bektemir Melikuziev -1667

Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia

23-0 with 19 stoppage wins, Garcia has a very good chin, long reach, is taller and bigger than Davis, and has monster punches. As good as Gervonta is, he hasn’t faced a boxer quite like Garcia.

Ryan’s wildness is one of the reasons he’s so difficult to beat. Garcia has a tendency to throw punches with his arm near his torso, sometimes as low as his thigh. Sometimes, that gets him trouble, but when one lands, it can devastate his opponent.

Davis has fought taller and bigger fighters before and has had no issues. Gervonta’s ability to knock out his opponents with one punch is well-known.

What isn’t as well-known is Davis’ ability to set up power punches. Gervonta is known as a power puncher, and he is, but his boxing dictates the power punches he throws. Overall, Davis has a higher boxing IQ than Garcia, which will prove to be the difference.

When fans watch boxing on television, we see the punches. But, really, it’s all about the feet. The punch doesn’t matter if the feet aren’t where they’re supposed to be.

In that regard, Gervonta Davis should knock out Ryan Garcia on Saturday night. Garcia has talent, but he does a lot of things wrong. He puts his foot to the inside of his opponent’s, thereby, giving his rivals the angle.

For sure, Gervonta will take advantage of that small but super important feet placement flaw. Also, Garcia tends to back up in a straight line. Ryan doesn’t move well side-to-side.

Davis is a master at lateral movement. Moving side-to-side allows boxers to gain angle advantages, which ultimately lead to optimal punch placement. Garcia has the physical edges, but Davis has the boxing edge. Gervonta wins via TKO or KO.

Boxing Betting Pick: Gervonta Davis -278
