Top Boxing Betting Picks of the Week (June 16th, 2022)

Josh Kelly vs. Peter Kramer

The odds on Kelly make him unplayable. So it’s better to back either over or under the total rounds. Kelly is 10-1-1 with 6 knockout wins. But Kelly goes into this bout off a loss to David Avanesyan. Kramer is 12-5-3 with 8 knockout wins. The record isn’t horrible, but Kramer shows 2 draws and 2 losses in his last 5. He won his last bout but that was versus a 5-47 boxer. Kelly provides the early round knockout.

Boxing Betting Pick: Under 4.5

Troy Isley vs. Donte Stubbs

Isley has done nothing wrong in his short career, knocking out 3 opponents on his way to a 5-0 record. On Friday night, Islay takes on Donte Stubbs. The fight is an obvious way to showcase Isley’s abilities. Isley should win. So the real question is whether he knocks out Stubbs or Donte finds a way to go to the scorecards. Stubbs isn’t a great boxer. But he hasn’t suffered a knockout or technical knockout loss yet. This goes to the scorecards.

Boxing Betting Pick: Over 4.5

Wendy Toussaint vs. Asinia Byfield

E13-1 Wendy Toussaint took a couple of years off after suffering a loss to Charles Cromwell. Toussaint showed he’s still got it when knocking out Travis Gambardella in the first round in a fight in March. Asinia Byfeld is 15-4-1 with 7 knockout wins. Toussaint should win this but Byfeld has never suffered a KO or TKO loss. Over is the play.

Boxing Betting Pick: Over 6.5

New York – ESPN / ESPN+

Abraham Nova vs. Robeisy Ramirez

Ramirez is 9-1 with 5 knockout wins. The reason so many are high on Ramirez is because the loss happened in his first pro bout. Not only that, but Ramirez can win via decision, he’s done it 4 times, or by knockout or technical knockout. No doubt, Robeisy Ramirez is a very good fighter.

But on Saturday night, Ramirez takes on an undefeated boxer. Abraham Nova is 21-0 with 15 knockout wins. In addition, the underdog in this is 4 inches taller and has a 4-inch reach advantage. If the odds differential wasn’t so vast, Ramirez might be the play, but at +350 Nova is an overlay.

Boxing Betting Pick: Abraham Nova +350

WBC & IBF & WBO Lightweight Titles

Artur Beterbiev vs. Joe Smith Jr.

Since losing via unanimous decision to Dmitry Bivol in 2019, Joe Smith Jr. has done nothing but win boxing matches. Smith Jr. beat Jesse Hart via split decision. The underdog in this beat Eleider Alvarez via TKO, Maxim Vlasov via majority decision, and Steve Geffrard via ninth round knockout.

But although Smith Jr. is in good form, he faces a monster on Saturday night. Artur Beterbiev is 17-0 with 17 knockout wins. The record impresses, but don’t think Beterbiev is some kind of brawler. The favorite is a talented boxer. He never crosses his feet, has a much better defense than many give him credit for having, and is patient. He’ll knockout Smith Jr. before the eighth round.

Boxing Betting Pick: Artur Beterbiev -714
