Why bet on the Atlanta Braves?

Thanks to a pair of ninth-inning walk-off victories, the Atlanta Braves are now just two wins away from reaching the World Series for the first time since 1999. Their 5-4 win in Game 2 over the Los Angeles Dodgers is well and good, but they also know better than to have recent history repeat itself.

During the 2020 NLCS, the Braves also had a surprising 2-0 series lead over the Dodgers and even went up three games to one before LA stormed back and captured the NL crown. This time around, Atlanta’s opportunistic bats have stepped up, with Austin Riley and Eddie Rosario delivering the late-game heroics in Games 1 and 2, respectively.

With the offense humming along nicely, it’s up to the Braves’ next starter in Charlie Morton to have a solid day on the mound in hopes of seizing a commanding three-game series lead. Morton went 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA against the Dodgers this regular season, allowing just three earned runs in 11 innings of work.

Why bet on the Los Angeles Dodgers?

With a depleted roster for much of this postseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers are still staying close or outright winning against their playoff competition. While back-to-back heartbreaking defeats are certainly mood killers, manager Dave Roberts has still done a terrific job juggling his batting order around the injuries dealt to Max Muncy (elbow) and Justin Turner (neck).

Los Angeles actually managed to gain the lead on two occasions in Game 2, with Corey Seager and Chris Taylor each driving in a couple of runs. However, the fact remains that the Dodgers are just 2-for-18 in the series with runners in scoring position. The offense certainly needs a wake-up call, but at least Walker Buehler will make things a bit easier for his team on the pitching end.

In his last two postseason starts against the Braves, Buehler has allowed just one run across two starts and 11 innings of action. The righty from Kentucky also finished the 2021 regular season with a 16-4 record and a sub-2.50 ERA.

Braves vs. Dodgers MLB Betting Trends

  • The Braves are 4-4 in their last eight postseason road games, with three of those four losses coming in their last four road outings.
  • The Braves are 0-5 in their last five games played on the Dodgers’ home field.
  • The run totals have gone under in all five of Atlanta’s most recent trips to Dodger Stadium.
  • The Dodgers, meanwhile, are 10-4 in their last 14 postseason games at home.
  • The Dodgers are 17-1 in their last 18 home games in general.
  • The totals have gone over in six of Los Angeles’ last eight home games.

Braves vs. Dodgers Series Betting Prediction

Although there seems to be panic brewing for Dodger Blue, the reigning World Series champions have yet to be totally blown out in the series to put them in real danger. On the other hand, the Braves are playing with so much confidence that a Game 3 road upset is just as likely to happen. The fantastic pitching duel between Morton and Buehler will likely decide which team will come out on top of Tuesday’s blockbuster showdown.
