Bucks vs. Suns NBA Finals Odds and Game 2 Preview – July 8th, 2021

By Carlos Chacon

The 2021 NBA Finals is what we expected it to be, as shown in Game 1 of the Bucks vs. Suns series. It was the Suns who drew first blood with a 118-105 victory in front of their home crowd. The game started off level with answers from both sides. Giannis Antetokounmpo looked healthy during the first half, but the Suns managed to take off late in the second quarter. They started to build on the lead and even led the game by as much as 20 points. Khris Middleton helped the Bucks cut the lead to seven points, but the backcourt duo of Chris Paul and Devin Booker proved too much to handle.

Monty Williams and his squad enter Game 2 in high spirits as they take on the Bucks at the Phoenix Suns Arena. Meanwhile, for Mike Budenholzer and his team, this is their chance to level the series before heading back to Milwaukee and bring momentum back to their side.

Why Bet on the Milwaukee Bucks?

The Bucks need to work on several things before Thursday night, and it begins in the paint. Of all the advantages that the Milwaukee Bucks had over the Phoenix Suns, it was their size that needed to be exploited. However, Deandre Ayton overwhelmed the team and was one rebound short of 20. The ‘Greek Freak’ and Brook Lopez needs to step up in Game 2.

If they start asserting dominance near the rim, they can outdo the Suns with less pressure in the paint. Moreover, the Bucks have to get Jrue Holiday to guard Chris Paul. After all the switching they did to try and stop the Suns’ backcourt, Jrue Holiday hardly faced CP3.

Also, the Milwaukee Bucks need to lock down at least one of the Phoenix Suns’ Big 3 if they want to stand a chance at taking a win on the road. It is a must that they limit one of the starters to at least below 20 points, which they failed to do. Furthermore, Khris Middleton did well to keep his team in the game with 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, but the rest of the lineup has to provide him with more consistency than they lacked in the opening game.

Why Bet on the Phoenix Suns?

Chris Paul was on point in his NBA Finals debut. He started slowly in the first half of the game but caught on fire in the third quarter. The guard scored 32 points along with 4 rebounds and 9 assists. He proved to be too much for Brook Lopez as he took turns with Devin Booker and took advantage of the mismatch off the dribble.

While this happened, the rest of the team did well to take away the ball from the Bucks and beat them in transition. They forced eight in the first half and eventually forced 12 at the end of the night. Deandre Ayton was impressive in transition for his team, moving up and down the lane to open up and get easy buckets. He closed his night with 22 points and collected 19 rebounds.

Another weapon that the Suns utilized to win Game 1 was their free-throw shooting, making 25 of 26 shots from the line compared to the Bucks’ 9 of 16. If they can continue the aforementioned and execute excellent ball movement, Game 2 is theirs for the taking.

The Suns are off to a great start and now on pace to win Game 2 after putting the first game out of the Bucks’ reach. It seems like Chris Paul is hungry for that ring, and so is the rest of the Phoenix Suns lineup. As it stands, they now have the upper hand and are the chosen team to win Thursday night’s outing.

But don’t discount the Bucks as they are known to recover well from losses. They’ve overcome a challenging route to the NBA Finals and have the firepower to take down any team in the league when at their best.
