Why Bet on the Los Angeles Clippers?

The third installment of the battle of Los Angeles comes forth on Tuesday night at the LA-shared Crypto.com Arena. Ty Lue and his boys look solid after winning back-to-back road games, including a strong 14-point victory over the Mavs. They won three of their last five games and ranks second in the Pacific Division. Meanwhile, tWe’re about to see the full force of the Clippers’ lineup on Tuesday night. John Wall and Luke Kennard have been solid off the bench, but are expected to be out until at least the end of January. This means we’re about of Reggie Jackson and Normal Powell on the floor.

As a team, the Clippers average 109.7 points per game on 46.5% shooting. They are the sixth-best three-point shooting team in the league now with figures of 37.5% from deep. Leading scorer Paul George plays his 33rd game of the season with a pair of team-best averages of 23.09 points and 5.27 assists per game. Kawhi Leonard trails him with 20.50 points per game, while starters Marcus Morris and Ivica Zubac put up at least ten points per game, with the latter topping the lineup with 10.43 boards per game.

The Clippers look tighter on the defensive end. They limit competitors to 110.5 points per game on 46.6% opponent shooting. This includes a 53.8% opponent two-point and 35.0% three-point shooting. As for collecting boards, the visitors average 52.7 rebounds in 49 contests.

The Lakers share a similar record in the last five games. The fifth-ranked Pacific Division team and No. 12 Western Conference seed are coming off a road win versus the Blazers and a close one-point triumph over the Grizzlies before that.

Why Bet on the Los Angeles Lakers?

The Lakers’ starting lineup is shorthanded with Lonnie Walker IV and LeBron James on the injury list. James is day-to-day following an ankle injury while Walker is expected to be out until at least late January. This will prove tricky for a side that also feature a banged-up bench squad. Recently acquired forward Rui Hachimura is out with a non-injury-related issue while Austin Reaves sits out a few more games with hamstring problems.

This side of Los Angeles features proper offensive statistics. The Lakers document 117.1 points per game on a sixth-best 48.5% shooting. They are deadly from short and mid-range with a 56.3% shooting percentage and score over 56 points in the paint per game. Although their three-point shooting figures remain sub-par at 33.7%, it’s worth noting that they deal most of the damage from closer range.

Defensively, the Lakers hold off teams to 118.0 points per game on 47.2% opponent shooting. They limit teams to 55.1% from the two-point range, but we find the squad puts up better perimeter defense and keeps competitors to 34.7% from downtown. Furthermore, the squad collects 52.5 total rebounds per game and is good for a ninth-best record at the moment.

Clippers vs. Lakers Betting Trends

  • The Clippers are 2-3 in the last five road contests (1-4 ATS).
  • The Clippers are 5-0 in the last five games versus the Lakers (4-1 ATS).
  • The totals went under in three of the Clippers’ last five road games.
  • The Lakers are 4-3 in the last seven home games (5-2 ATS).
  • The Lakers are 3-2 in the last five games (3-1 ATS).
  • The totals went over in three of the Lakers’ last six games against the Clippers.

Clippers vs. Lakers Expert Betting Prediction

The hosts are the underdogs here given their current position in the league. We haven’t seen much of their potential with key players on and off the court due to injury. Although we are likely to see improvement come out of this squad, we don’t expect it to happen in the next couple of days. The Lakers can still cover the spread here. However, a win demands everything from this short-staffed lineup.

On the other hand, we see a significantly healthier and more consistent LA side when looking at the Clippers now. With both of their star players healthy and a solid supporting cast to work with, there’s a good chance that they overcome the Lakers on the road.
