Why Bet on the Los Angeles Clippers?

The Clippers are in a rough spot after losing to Alvin Gentry for the second time in November. Despite previously beating their LA rivals, the team slowed down and lost to the Kings once again. Nevertheless, this is their chance to score a fourth road win of the season and get a step closer to the No. 4 seed of the Western Conference.

The team might not have the numbers on offense, but they do shine on the defensive end. They currently average 105.9 points (20th) per game on 44.6% shooting (20th). The underwhelming numbers are brought by the lack of scorers in the team. Kawhi Leonard sitting the season out holds the team back from better results this season. However, the Clippers’ grit on defense is able to keep the team afloat.

Defensively, the team allows 105.0 points (sixth) per game. They limit teams to just 44.0% shooting (eighth). The Clippers do an even better job at guarding the two-point zone and restrict opponents to 50.2% shooting. This will play a huge role against an offense-concentrated Blazers team.

Nicolas Batum is out of COVID-19 quarantine but remains questionable on Monday night. Serge Ibaka will take responsibility and start the night to cover for the Frenchman before his return.

Why Bet on the Portland Trail Blazers?

The Blazers are in a tough spot right now. They lost two of their last three games at the Moda Center, and this is their last chance to add a home win before hitting the road to face the Warriors.

The side held opponents to an average of 109.5 points (11th) in 24 games. This should fare well against a Clippers team that averages much less than that. Offensively, the Blazers’ offense hit 45.5% of their shots (15th). They are one of the best shooting teams from the mid-range. The team averages 53.2% two-point shooting percentage. Additionally, Damian Lillard and the rest of the shooters combine to make 35.2% of their shots from downtown.

The Blazers’ defense allows 111.7 points (25th) per game. They are not the best team in terms of defensive rebounds, averaging 33.9 boards (22nd) per game. But for all that, they do well collecting offensive boards. The squad collects 10.0 offensive rebounds per game. This helps introduce more second-chance points and complement the team’s attacking expertise.

Damian Lillard leads the team in points and assists. C.J. McCollum is not far behind the guard and is the only other player to average 20-plus points per game. However, the two are on the questionable list with abdominal tendinopathy and a rib injury, respectively. Expect Dennis Smith Jr. to document more minutes to cover for Lillard, while Tony Snell fills McCollum’s shoes.

Clippers vs. Trail Blazers Betting Trends

  • The Clippers are 3-2 in their last five regular-season road games against the Blazers (3-2 ATS).
  • The Clippers are 3-3 in their last six regular-season road games (3-3 ATS).
  • The totals went over in two of the Clippers’ last four regular-season road games against the Blazers.
  • The Blazers won by nine points or more in their last three regular-season home victories against the Clippers.
  • The Blazers are 8-2 in their last ten regular-season games at the Moda Center (6-4 ATS).
  • The totals went under in six of the Blazers’ last ten regular-season home games against the Clippers.

Clippers vs. Trail Blazers Expert Betting Prediction

The LA Clippers’ defense will help the team reel in the Blazers despite not having the strongest offense of the two. Paul Goerge plays a key role in their search for some momentum. Meanwhile, the Blazers’ defensive rating dropped recently and ranks 30th in the league right now. This is something that Ty Lue should look into if he wants to keep the opponents in sight. Home court advantage will play a huge role in the Blazers’ efforts this time, but the Clippers might have a slight edge as they enter the Moda Center. Having two key players on the questionable list also puts the hosts in a tough spot. However, covering the spread shouldn’t be much of a problem as we expect a close contest between the two.
