Why Bet on the Philadelphia Eagles?

The 34-10 beat down of the New York Giants marks the Philadelphia Eagles’ third straight win and fifth over their last six games. The Eagles are over the .500 mark for the first time this season at 8-7 and it couldn’t have come at a better time considering that they’re now right in the thick of the playoff hunt.

Second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts was cool under pressure against the G-Men, completing 17 of 29 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns. Philadelphia’s three-headed backfield of Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, and Jordan Howard also got it going on the ground, as they combined for 123 rushing yards on 28 carries.

Philly’s defense also got its revenge from the 13-7 Week 12 loss to the Giants. Although that defeat is the only blemish across the Eagles’ aforementioned six-game stretch, the fact remains that their D has not allowed more than 20 points in five of those six games. This includes a crucial 27-17 win over Washington in Week 15.

Why Bet on the Washington Football Team?

The Washington Football Team has faced nothing else but the top two teams from its conference in the Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys over the past three games, and, sadly, they’ve all resulted in brutal losses. Week 16’s 56-14 annihilation at the hands of the Cowboys puts the team on the brink of elimination from playoff contention should they also get swept by the Eagles this Sunday.

Taylor Heinicke was flustered all afternoon long against Philly’s resurgent defense, completing just seven passes on 22 attempts for 121 yards, one TD and a couple of interceptions. The undrafted QB out of Old Dominion has thrown a pick in each of his last four starts, leaving the door open for backup Kyle Allen to assume the starting role in Week 17. Allen went 8-of-10 for 67 passing yards and added a garbage-time score in relief of Heinicke this past weekend.

Washington’s defense will be put to the test once more in its final encounter with the Eagles this season. Ron Rivera’s side has allowed no less than 27 points in each of its last three defeats. The team is also tied for the fourth-most turnovers this season and will need to play clean football against a Philly defense that only has 15 takeaways this season themselves (sixth-fewest in the league).

Eagles vs. Washington Betting Trends

  • The Eagles are 5-3 on the road this season (4-4 ATS).
  • The Eagles are just 2-4 in their last six games as road favorites (SU/ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in four of Philadelphia’s last five games in general.
  • Washington is 3-4 at homes this season (2-5 ATS).
  • The WFT is 2-7 in its last nine meetings against the Eagles since 2017 (2-6-1 ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in four of the five most recent matchups between these two division rivals.

Eagles vs. Washington Expert Betting Predictions

All the momentum and talent currently lean in favor of the Eagles. Then again, as with every divisional rivalry, Washington could bounce back with their playoff lives on the line, especially if they take the high-risk, high-reward decision of starting Allen over Heinicke to revitalize the team’s now-dormant offense.
