2022 World Series Recap

The 2022 World Series ended in a whisper after the Astros won 4 games to 2 over the surprise NL Champion Philadelphia Phillies. The story for the Stros in this year’s World Series was pitching.

Justin Verlander couldn’t get the Game 1 win, but after that, Astros pitchers rolled. No flame thrower dominated as much as Christian Javier. Christian won 2 games, Verlander won a game, and Framber Valdez locked down a couple of victories.

Early 2023 World Series Top Second Pick

No team was going to beat the 2022 Houston Astros in a 7-game series. The Phillies won 2 games. That’s an accomplishment because most had them bowing out in the wildcard round.

No doubt, Philadelphia will improve. Like with most teams chasing the Stros, you must have a rotation that can stick with Houston’s.

Philadelphia’s is close. Nola and Wheeler are solid. If the Phills can convince a top free agent thrower to head their way, they will contend again because they’ve got the bats.

Early 2023 World Series Top Third Pick

Led by the great Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the lineup is set. The key for Toronto will be the rotation where Gausman had a good season, but the Jays could use an ace on the Verlander level.

Hmm, is there something there? Could Justin bounce to Toronto? Maybe. Canada isn’t a bad place to play. Then again, the taxes would be enormous, but the Jays are knocking on the door. So we’ll keep them in the top three.

Early 2023 World Series Top Underdog Pick

This year, Joe Maddon was like Jeb Bush in the 2016 Presidential Election, low energy. Once the Halos ditched Maddon, they started playing much better.

Two-way star Shohei Ohtani will win a lot of games and have a great season at the plate. But there’s nothing behind him. If LAA somehow convinces an ace to join the rotation, and puts together a solid bullpen, Los Angeles will have a shot.

The new wildcard rules means the Angels mustn’t beat the Stros to make the postseason. The Halos could be 2023’s version of the Seattle Mariners except better.
