Early 2024 MLB Season Betting Predictions
We’re at the mid-season point of the offseason, which means it’s time to think about what might happen in 2024. Which Major League Baseball teams are poised to make it to the 2024 World Series? AL Cy Young
- MLB Odds: Framber Valdez +850
Valdez fell apart in the postseason, going 0-3 and producing a 9.00 ERA. Framber, though, should bounce back in 2024. If Justin Verlander is okay, JV will protect Valdez during the season, which means Framber can concentrate on improving upon his 3.45 regular season ERA.
The strikeouts, 200 in less than 200 innings thrown, are already there. Also, the odds are decent.
NL Cy Young
- MLB Odds: Zac Gallen +1400
Gallen offers excellent 14-to-1 odds to win the 2024 NL Cy Young. The Arizona Diamondbacks ace went 17-9 with a 3.47 ERA last season.
Gallen struck out 220 in 210 innings. Also, the 1.12 WHIP was sensational. If anything, the World Series experience should make Gallen even more formidable in 2024.
AL MVP
- MLB Odds: Mike Trout +2200
Trout should bounce back from difficult seasons the past couple of years. The Angels once in a generation player was a yearly MVP contender but in 2023 Trout struggled to a .263 batting average, hit just 18 home runs, and batted in just 44 runs.
We know that Trout has suffered through some injuries. If Mike is one-hundred percent healthy this season, he’s going to make the 22-to-1 odds laughable. Taking a swing on Trout to go back to playing his best baseball makes sense.
NL MVP
- MLB Odds: Bryce Harper +1200
Here’s another once in a generation player who could bounce back with a massive season. Bryce Harper had an okay 2023 with 21 home runs and a .293 batting average.
But like Trout, Harper missed time. So if stays healthy in 2024, Bryce is going to rock. A better than .300 batting average to go along with 40 or more home runs and 100 or more RBIs isn’t out of the question.
AL Pennant
There are not lines
It’s tough not to go chalky in the American League. The Houston Astros are poised to win another ALCS. The arms should be solid because Verlander is likely to spend the entire season in a Stros uniform.
Valdez will bounce back, and the bats will be there. Also, it’s tough to trust the favorite, the Yankees, and is Baltimore as good as what they showed in 2023?
NL Pennant
There are not lines
The Braves dominated during the regular season and then fell apart in the postseason. No problem. Atlanta should keep it going from the first pitch to the World Series this season.
First, let’s get the shadow of the Dodgers out of the way. Yes, LAD is much improved on paper, but chemistry means a ton in baseball and the Dodgers may or may not have the necessary chemistry.
Second, the ATL has already proven their chemistry. So, yes, at +375, the Braves a better play than the National League Championship chalk.
2024 World Series
There are not lines
Spencer Strider struck out 281 batters in 186 innings last season. Strider could be even more effective striking out batters this season because Max Fried will be healthier.
Fried is also a contender for the Cy Young. Charlie Morton, Chris Sale, and Ian Anderson are veteran arms that will help the Braves contend all season long.
The bats, led by Ronald Acuna, are downright scary. Last season, the Braves went 104-58. The run differential was an incredible +231. The ATL knows they let a World Series escape from their grasps.
Don’t expect the Braves to let up at any point this season. Atlanta wins the 2024 World Series.
