The Cam Reddish phase appears to be nearing an end for the New York Knicks. The East coast team traded a first-round pick to take in the Duke product. Reddish has been on the sidelines for nearly 20 games as the team looks to send him to another team. The former No. 10 overall pick could be swapped for second-round picks as per sources. Some of the teams inquiring about Reddish include the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Furthermore, a Lakers side in dire need of depth would get a lot of value for Reddish. While the 23-year-old is far from perfect now, we believe he fits the team’s system perfectly. He plays strong defense despite falling short on the offensive side of things for most of his career, which is what the Lakers will benefit from right now.

A fresh start might be what Reddish needs to restart his professional career. The Hawks and Knicks neglected the forward and considered him more of a disposable piece than anything else. The Lakers have been trying to chase him long enough to tell us that he will likely get the same treatment from the Western Conference side.

With other franchises trying to beef up their roster for depth, the Lakers should expect competition. The Portland Trail Blazers featuring a healthy selection of wing players like Justise Winslow and Nassir Little means there’s more to consider in terms of soaking the depth chart.

We’ve seen competent names come out of the second round, but players with raw talent like Reddish come few and far between the 30th pick. Someone willing to invest time in Reddish may find a late-blossoming superstar to the likes of Jeremi Grant and the Miami Heat key player Jimmy Butler.

As the trade deadline draws closer, the Trail Blazers’ front office has a few considerations to tackle regarding a once-number-one seeded team that needs an overhaul.
