The Jacksonville Jaguars had been on a losing streak, but in their last, the Jags stepped up on both sides of the ball in a 26-0 victory over the Carolina Panthers. All Jacksonville requires is a road win against the Titans to secure the AFC South and a playoff spot. Will Jacksonville beat the Titans by enough to cover the spread? Why Bet on the Jacksonville Jaguars?

When Jacksonville’s defense is healthy, it’s one of the better units in the AFC. The Jaguars defensive strategy starts with pressuring opposing quarterbacks.

Josh Allen has 41 solo tackles, 2 forced fumbles, an interception, and has recorded 16.5 sacks this season. Allen should be in the running for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. He’s played that well.

The Jags struggled a month or so ago because Devin Lloyd was hurt. Lloyd played against Carolina and the results were like night and day. There isn’t a single Jaguar listed as questionable heading into the matchup against the Titans.

Trevor Lawrence lists as questionable. But although the Jags may be without their starting quarterback, veteran Case Keenum knows how to run Doug Pederson’s offense.

Keenum gets the benefit of throwing to Calvin Ridley and Evan Engram. Running back Travis Etienne is also capable of catching the ball out of the backfield.

With Lawrence unable to play versus the Panthers, Pederson called Etienne’s number a lot. Expect the same on Sunday if Lawrence can’t go.

Why Bet on the Tennessee Titans?

Tennessee’s defense has played well in recent games. The Titans have dropped 3 straight, but it’s not because of the defense.

Tennessee held the rival Houston Texans to 19 points and 26 points in a couple of losses. The Seahawks beat Tennessee when scoring just 20. Tennessee’s D, like it often does, will put forth a great effort.

Will Levis, Tennessee’s rookie quarterback, isn’t likely to play in this, which means the Titans could end up scoring 3 to 10. That’s how bad Ryan Tannehill has been since taking over for Levis.

To be fair, Tannehill hadn’t played all season. Tannehill got the nod to start because Levis suffered an injury. The Titans are likely to keep their 2024 starting quarterbacks on the bench in a meaningless game versus a defense that loves to sack the QB.

The real reason the Jags are a game away from winning the AFC South is because Cam Robinson, Jacksonville’s starting left tackle, is healthy. The Jags struggled big time when Robinson was on IR.

Ezra Cleveland can move back to his right guard position, and Walker Little can head to the bench. Little is a Swiss Army Knife OT, meaning he can play any position along the line. With Robinson back, the Jaguars’ offense motored through the Panthers’ D.

Expect Robinson to open massive holes for Etienne and give Lawrence or Keenum enough time to throw the ball downfield. Jags cover.
