Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz Boxing Odds and Preview

By Jeff Stinger

July will wrap up the month with a stacked weekend of marquee boxing and MMA events from both ends of the world, and August will continue that trend with another spectacle featuring two fighters from both combat realms. Famed Youtuber and rising professional boxer Jake Paul takes on UFC veteran and fan favorite Nate Diaz in what’s guaranteed to be a highly entertaining fight, even if just for the theatrics that these two men are capable of once they touch gloves on a week from now in Dallas.

Nitrobetting isn’t holding back any punches regarding previews for the biggest boxing and mixed martial arts events on the calendar. Let’s break down the upcoming headline-grabbing cruiserweight bout between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz.

Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz Fight Info

Why Bet on Jake Paul?

Love him or hate him, social media superstar Jake Paul has done nothing but impress even the most skeptical boxing fan with his surprising boxing skills. The self-proclaimed “Problem Child” of the boxing world currently boasts a respectable 6-1 professional record with four wins via knockout, including KOs over notable pugilists such as Ben Askren and Tyrone Woodley (twice).

Paul did eat some crow in his last bout, losing a split-decision contest to Tommy Fury – the half-brother of boxing heavyweight champ Tyson Fury – earlier this February. This was the Cleveland native’s first professional loss and it will be telling if he can bounce back in stride following a defeat that many of his naysayers couldn’t be happier about.

Nevertheless, at just 26 years of age, Paul is just about to enter his prime and will face another aged MMA talent in another showdown that’s arguably going to be more entertaining in the lead-up to the event rather than the fight itself. Paul has already taken down several big names from the Octagon, such as Askren and even the great Anderson Silva, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he makes quick work of a battle-worn Diaz.

Why Bet on Nate Diaz?

More of a stoner uncle than a feared MMA fighter nowadays, Nate Diaz will indeed have the majority of the audience behind him as he looks to be the next in line to humble Jake Paul. The southpaw out of Stockton has seen better days in the UFC but did gladly find himself back in the win column during his latest outing.

Last September, Diaz defeated another former UFC standout, Tony Ferguson, by way of submission in the fourth round. It was just his second win in five fights over the last seven years, as he slowly winds down his in-ring activity acting as more of a big-name draw than an actual contender in the sport’s biggest promotion.

Agreeing to face Paul in a boxing match could be a trap laid for Diaz, whose age (38) and lack of a boxing background (just five knockouts in his 21 career MMA victories) seem like a recipe for disaster. If nothing else, at least the trash-talking between the two camps beyond the ring has been highly entertaining, and Diaz has to be respected as well for signing up for a fight that’s outside his comfort zone.

Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz Expert Betting Prediction

The smart money here would be on the much younger and motivated Paul to conquer another modern MMA legend. However, we’ll be betting with our hearts rather than our brains here and predict that Diaz’s rock-solid chin will contain Paul’s flurry en route to a victory that the judge’s scorecard has him winning one way or another. We wouldn’t be surprised if other bettors for this megafight have the same reasons behind their wager for this bout just to spite the famed content creator’s often-insufferable persona.
