Las Vegas Raiders 2023 Straight-Up Overview
Jimmy G. led the San Francisco 49ers to the 2020 Super Bowl, where Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs rallied to win the Lombardi Trophy. Garoppolo is a veteran who knows what he’s doing. The issue has always been health, and, unfortunately, this season could be more of the same.
Kolton Miller is a dynamite left tackle. Miller, a draft pick from the Jon Gruden era, can pancake edge rushers. Kolton can hold is own versus the best in the league, including players like Cleveland’s Myles Garrett and the Broncos’ Bradley Chubb.
But outside of Miller, the rest of the line struggles. Interior players, the guards, rank near the bottom of the NFL. Alex Bars ranks 63 and Dylan Parham ranks 66 in pressure rate allowed.
Those rankings are out of 67, which means teams are going to go right up the middle to get to Jimmy.
Garoppolo isn’t the fastest mover in the pocket. So things could get dicey starting in NFL Week 1 when Vegas takes on Chub and the Broncos in Denver. Don’t be surprised if Garoppolo breaks down well before the Raiders’ bye in week 13.
The Raiders defense is decent. Maxx Crosby is great. Chandler Jones, on the other side of Crosby, will be a force if he can rediscover his best game. The secondary is so-so, though.
Even if the Raiders had better offensive and defensive lines and Garoppolo wasn’t as fragile as he is, the team would struggle in the first six weeks. Vegas is on the road in three of their first four games: at Denver in week 1, at Buffalo in week 2, and at the Chargers in week 4.
In NFL Week 2, the Raiders host a decent Steelers squad. T.J. Watt has a real chance of getting to Jimmy G. in that game. New England is on the schedule. The Raiders must travel to Detroit and Miami this season.
Also, we can’t forget that Vegas plays in the AFC West. So two games versus the Broncos, Chiefs, and Chargers.
It’s difficult to know if Vegas improves at all from last season. The likelier outcome is Las Vegas is worse straight up. Instead of 6-11, the Raiders win one less game and go 5-12.

Las Vegas Raiders 2023 Against the Spread Overview
Vegas went 8-9 against the spread this season. It’s difficult seeing the Raiders improve against the spread in 2023.
The offensive line will struggle to protect Jimmy G. The defense is okay but not great and the schedule is ridiculous. However, oddsmakers know this. So instead of 8-9, we’ll lower the Raiders’ by a game and go 7-10.

The offense won’t be great unless Vegas fixes their O-line issues. The defense will struggle to stop anybody.
Still, oddsmakers won’t create false totals. So a similar 8-9 over to under record is the prediction.
