Why Bet on the Detroit Lions?

The lack of traction holds the Lions from winning a game this season, and Week 7 won’t be easy. At the time of this writing, the team already lost three road games. In their most recent game, they fell into the hands of the Bengals, 34-11.

We are yet to see the Lions score another 18-plus point game since their opener. The Lions averaged 15.2 points in their last 5 games. Offensively, the team ranks one of the fewest points per game in the league at 18.2 (28) and yards per game at 321.0 (27th). Although they record slightly better yards per rush at 4.0 (20th), there’s room for improvement on this side of the ball.

It’s a similar story on defense. Although Detroit ranks 25th in opponent points per game, they held off their opponents to 19 points or less twice in six games. Moreover, the Lions do a little better in defending rushing play. They average 4.3 opponent yards per rush and rank 18th in the league. If the side finds a way to get their stride back, they might just contain the Rams.

The Lions have five players on the questionable list this weekend: running back D’Andre Swift (groin), tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee), fullback Jason Cabinda (hip), right defensive end Nick Williams (knee), and weakside linebacker Trey Flowers (knee).

Why Bet on the Los Angeles Rams?

The Rams are on a roll with five wins in six games. They are currently second in the NFC West behind the undefeated Cardinals. Head coach Sean McVay managed to secure victories in all of their road games. Their only loss was a 37-20 defeat to the cardinals at the SoFi stadium.

It’s been a good run for the Rams’ offense so far. Currently, the team averages 29.8 points per game (6th) and 401.0 yards per game (8th). However, they are not the best rushing team in the league. The Rams average 103.5 rushing yards per game (21st). Despite not producing the best rushing numbers, the side can exploit a relatively weaker Lions rushing defense.

Previewing the defense, the Rams do well to hold opponents to an average of 21.2 points per game (9th). Surprisingly, they fall behind in opponent yards per game and average 367.0 (21st) in the last six games. Nevertheless, they did much better in their previous road game, holding the Giants off to 261 total yards.

The team enters the game with a significantly healthy lineup except for Brian Allen who is currently suffering from an illness. If he fails to suit up on Sunday, Coleman Shelton is expected to take over the position in the meantime.

Lions vs. Rams Expert Betting Predictions

The Los Angeles Rams hold the clear advantage here. With a better overall record and a more consistent team, our straight-up bets lean towards the host’s side. However, the odds are tempting in this one due to the line. Covering the spread hasn’t been a problem for the Lions, and the team only lost by 16 points or more in three of three games. There’s a good chance they stay within 16 points of the Rams this weekend, but a win remains a long shot in this matchup.
