Miami Dolphins 2023 Straight-Up Overview
Miami’s success rests on Tua Tagovailoa’s shoulders. If Tua suffers another concussion, he had two last season, his NFL career is over. But if Tua doesn’t suffer a concussion, or any injuries, the Dolphins could win Super Bowl 58.
Tua’s healthy is priority number one. To protect their star quarterback, head coach Mike McDaniel has spent a lot of time this offseason to get Tagovailoa to understand the offense’s nuances.
Tagovailoa insists he has fully grasped the offense and, therefore, shouldn’t be in as many situations that could lead to injuries. If it’s true, the Dolphins should field one of the NFL’s best offenses.
Miami boasts a legit offensive player of the year candidate in Tyreek Hill. Jaylen Waddle, Tyreek’s wide receiving mate, would be the WR1 on most any other team.
Both Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. can carry the load. So the offense is ready to drop points onto Miami’s opponents.
The defense is also solid. The Fins acquired Jalen Ramsey to play cornerback. Ramsey is one of the best cover corners in the league. He is so good at shutting down receivers that Jalen’s presence will allow Miami’s defensive coaches to do many more things this season than they did last season.
Xavien Howard is on the other side, which means two of the best corners in the NFL play for the same team. Howard and Ramsey will keep opposing quarterbacks honest and provide time for ends Christian Wilkins and Emanuel Ogbah to rush passers and collapse the pocket.
Head coach Mike McDaniel did few things wrong in 2022. He should have kept Tua on the bench after the first concussion, but other than that, McDaniel performed well in his rookie season as a head coach.
Miami may not win the AFC East but they should make the playoffs. The Dolphins lose 6 games this season.
