Two of the NBA’s best offensive teams face off Tuesday night with a massive total as the Indiana Pacers visit the Dallas Mavericks, who are listing superstar Luka Doncic as questionable. Doncic is often listed as that way, though, and plays.

Indiana looks for the season sweep after beating Dallas 133-111 on Feb. 25 in Indianapolis. Myles Turner scored a season-high 33 points and Tyrese Haliburton added 17 points and 10 assists for the Pacers. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Andrew Nembhard and Haliburton broke it open midway through the fourth quarter, pushing the Pacers in front 120-102.

Dallas, which was within four earlier in the final period, later trailed by as many as 22. Luka Doncic finished with 33 points, six assists and six rebounds for the Mavericks, who shot 47% from the field but allowed Indiana to shoot 56% and make 14 3-pointers. Kyrie Irving had 29 points and six rebounds for Dallas.

Why Bet on the Indiana Pacers?

Indiana enters on a two-game skid after being upset in San Antonio 117-105 on Sunday. Haliburton had an off night with 12 points on 4-for-16 shooting, eight assists and six rebounds. The All-Star is shooting just 37.8% from the field over the past two weeks. Haliburton leads the NBA with an average of 11.5 assists this season. That mark would be the most in a season since John Stockton in 1991-92 (13.7). Haliburton has recorded double-doubles in 34 games. He has 11 games with at least 15 assists, the most in a season in franchise history and most by any player since Russell Westbrook in 2020-21 (14).

Pascal Siakam had 21 points and eight rebounds. The trade acquisition is averaging 19.2 points and 6.7 rebounds over his last 10 contests. Siakam has scored 20 or more points in five of his last seven games, and 12 of his 21 games overall in a Pacers uniform.

TJ McConnell had 26 points off the bench. He’s scored in double digits in four of his last six outings while shooting 65 percent from the field in that span. McConnell’s standout performance meant fewer minutes for starter Andrew Nembhard, who accounted for seven points and three rebounds in 20 minutes. Myles Turner was held to 16 points in the loss with 10 rebounds. The Pacers are 14-7 this season when Turner scores 20 or more points and 10-5 when he posts a double-double. Turner is now 21 blocks away from breaking Jermaine O’Neal’s franchise record for career blocks (1,245). Turner currently ranks 10th in the NBA in blocks with 1.7 per game while the Pacers rank ninth as a team with 5.7 per game.

The Pacers lead the NBA in scoring this season with an average of 123.4 points. They have seven players who are averaging 10 or more points per game and are 28-11 when six or more players score in double figures.

Indiana coach Rick Carlisle served as the head coach of Dallas for 13 seasons (2008-09 to 2020-21), where he guided the Mavericks to the playoffs nine times, including the franchise’s first NBA title in 2011 with a roster that featured Mavericks special advisor Dirk Nowitzki and Mavericks coach Jason Kidd.

Dallas is on a two-game skid after being upset 120-116 by Philadelphia on Sunday. Dallas was outscored 25-13 in points off turnovers and lost for the fourth time in five games since a seven-game winning streak, its longest of the season. The Mavs looked like a team that was playing its fourth game in 5 1/2 days.

“Our offense is our defense,” Kidd said. “When we score, we’re going to be one of the best teams in this league. When we don’t score, we’re one of the worst teams. And so, when we struggle to score, we tend to not do anything on the defensive end. And we’re trying to find a way to score. We’re getting great looks. They’re just not falling for us.”

Doncic had 38 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for his third consecutive triple-double, but the NBA’s scoring leader also had seven of 17 turnovers for the Mavericks. Luka became just the fourth player in NBA history with three consecutive 30-point triple-doubles (joining Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan and Russell Westbrook). He is listed questionable Tuesday with a left ankle sprain he has been dealing with for about a week. Irving had 28 points, five rebounds and four assists, his 22nd game this season with at least 25 points.

The Mavericks are 47-37 (.560) all-time against the Pacers franchise (27-15 at home, 20-22 on the road). Doncic is averaging 26.3 points (.472 FG%), 8.1 rebounds and 8.0 assists in nine career games (4-5 record) against the Pacers. Indiana has won three of its past four trips to Dallas. Not Tuesday, though, as long as Doncic plays.
