Why Bet on the Green Bay Packers?

Count on Aaron Rodgers to deliver another statement victory for the Green Bay Packers. The Three-time league MVP out-battled his fellow MVP candidate this season in Kyler Murray in Week 8, as the Packers escaped with a 24-21 victory in Arizona to hand the Cardinals their first loss of the season.

Rodgers conjured up enough winning magic that Sunday despite a depleted receiving platoon without his top wideout in Davante Adams (COVID-19 protocol). A-Rod connected with nine different receivers and finished with 22 completions on 37 attempts for 184 passing yards and two touchdown passes without a turnover. Instead, Green Bay’s backfield battered the Cards’ defense down to the tune of 151 combined rushing yards on 34 carries.

The Packers also have a top-10 defense; one that currently ranks seventh in yards allowed (331.8 YAPG) and ninth in points allowed per game (20.9 PAPG). With a potent offense and a sound defense in tow, it’s rather baffling as to why they’re not considered as road favorites this week against the slowly crumbling Chiefs.

Why Bet on the Kansas City Chiefs?

Although the Kansas City Chiefs came away with a 20-17 win over the New York Giants in Week 8, the fact that they won by just three points against the lowly G-Men is a huge cause for concern. As the Chiefs are 3-0 against teams with losing records and just 1-3 versus teams above .500.

There’s something not right with KC’s own former MVP in Patrick Mahomes. The generational QB wonder has been uncharacteristically sloppy for most of the season, recently going 29-of-48 for 275 yards, one TD, and one pick against the Giants. That was Mahomes’ 10th interception of the season, as he currently stands alone with that sad distinction thus far; worse than other lackluster gunslingers such as the Jets’ Zach Wilson and Houston’s Davis Mills.

Nevertheless, the Chiefs are still fourth in the league in average yards gained (412.9 YPG) and nith in points scored per game (26.0 PPG). However, it’s their bottom-five defense that needs the most help. Kansas City addressed their need for a defensive overhaul by trading for Pittsburgh linebacker Melvin Ingram for a mere future sixth-round pick. Perhaps this injection of fresh talent will fix KC’s defensive woes, if not at least for just this Sunday’s crucial matchup against the Packers.

Packers vs. Chiefs Betting Trends

  • The Packers are 10-4 on the road dating back to the start of the previous season (9-5 ATS).
  • The Packers are 3-1 versus Kansas City since 2007 (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went over in three of Green Bay’s last four meetings against KC.
  • The Chiefs are 4-3 in the last seven home games, including the playoffs (1-6 ATS).
  • The Chiefs are 10-1 in the last 11 games against NFC opponents (5-5-1 ATS).
  • The totals went under in each of Kansas City’s last three games.

Packers vs. Chiefs Expert Betting Predictions

With everything seemingly going right for the Packers, it’s indeed hard to bet against Rodgers and Co. this week. On the other hand, Kansas City needs this win more than Green Bay, and the Chiefs’ desperation to right their season’s ship could very well be enough for them to come away with a massive win in what should be an amazing battle between two QB greats.
