In her first round match, Yulia Putintseva easily handled Martina Trevisan. Putintseva beat Trevisan 6-3, 6-4.

Sloane Stephens got a first round bye. Stephens has had a decent season. She won the Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole. Then made it to the third round at the Mutua Madrid Open. Give the chalk the nod.
