The American Express 2023 Sleeper Picks

By Jeff Stinger

The PGA TOUR’s finest golfers are ready to tee off from California this week, as The American Express 2023 tournament kicks off the season’s lengthy West Coast swing. There isn’t a lot of elite talent on the Pete Dye Stadium Course ahead, which means there’s a ton of great value to be had in the upper-middle tier of the field worth considering for this week’s golf betting action.

Nitrobetting is here to help turn your golf bets from bogeys to birdies. This time, let’s take a closer look at the three best sleeper candidates to keep tabs on at The American Express 2023, as well as their corresponding golf odds to win the latest installment of the annual tournament held in La Quinta.

Brian Harman

  • The American Express 2023 Odds: +3,300

Brian Harman made his debut in this tournament back in 2016 and has posted relatively great results each time he’s made an appearance. The Savannah, Georgia native made the cut in six of his seven tries and secured top-25 finishes in those six events. Further boosting his stock as a notable sleeper pick this week is that Harman has a pair of T3 finishes as his best showings at The American Express, as well as a pair of runner-up finishes in a couple of other tournaments last November to get his campaign off to a strong start.

Tom Hoge

  • The American Express 2023 Odds: +3,500

Another standout in La Quinta has been Tom Hoge, who locked in a solo second-place finish last year and a T6 showing back in 2020. The 33-year-old TCU product has continued his strong play well into the current season, picking up a total of five top-15 finishes with a T3 and T4 showing in the mix. That being said, Hoge has the right mix of momentum and history on this week’s course on his side to make him another viable sleeper candidate worth placing stakes on right now.

Si Woo Kim

  • The American Express 2023 Odds: +4,000

Several Korean-born players are making their stamp on the PGA TOUR scene, and the latest happens to be rising 27-year-old Si Woo Kim. The latest pride of Seoul just won last week’s Sony Open in Hawaii, bringing his total victories on the TOUR to four since 2016; a feat that the majority of veterans can claim to have achieved. Kim is as hot as can be entering The American Express and one will be hard-pressed not to back him as a dark horse pick this week, especially now that he’s cracked the top 10 of the FedExCup rankings at No. 8 overall for the season.
