Thunder vs. Warriors 2023 NBA Odds and Preview – April 4th

By Jeff Stinger

Oklahoma recently kicked Dallas out of the tenth seed and is bound for the Play-In Tournament if the standings stay the same. Although the team dropped three of its last four games, head coach Mark Daigneault and his lineup did enough to keep the playoffs in sight.

The third-best team in the Northwest Division has three more regular-season games to play, including a road game against defending champions Golden State Warriors. Meanwhile, the Dubs will try to bounce back from a two-point loss to the Nuggets and avoid falling to the seventh seed.

Nitrobetting shares the latest news, NBA odds, and special features throughout the 2022-23 NBA season. Let’s get a closer look at the upcoming Thunder vs. Warriors face-off in this preview.

Why Bet on the Oklahoma City Thunder?

The Oklahoma City Thunder features a young and promising core squad. They have a relatively healthy team leading up to the game. Chet Holmgren and Kenrich Williams remain out with season-ending injuries and are only expected to return next season. With that, OKC top scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to headline the roster with a team-best 31.53 points per game. He also tops the team in steals with an average of 1.68 per game.

Meanwhile, the rest of the lineup sees a few more double-digit scorers playing on Tuesday. Josh Giddey is the second-best scorer on the floor with 16.59 points per game. More than that, he leads the team in rebounds and assists with 7.91 and 6.16 per game, respectively. As a team, OKC averages 117.5 points per game on 46.6% shooting. They hit 52.9% of short and mid-range shots while making 35.7% of looks from deep. The visitors are also the sixth-best free-throw shooting team in the league at 81.0%.

Defensively, the Thunder limit teams to 116.6 points per game on 47.4% opponent shooting. They also collect 51.4 total rebounds per game.

Why Bet on the Golden State Warriors?

Reports tell us that an Andrew Wiggins return is coming. However, it’s more likely that he won’t join until the playoffs begin. In the meantime, plenty of names can cover for the scoring void he left. The defensive void he left is still unmatched, but rest assured that the Warriors have a plethora of scorers available for this one.

Stephen Curry leads the team with nearly 30 points per game. He also grabs 6.11 rebounds and 6.28 assists in 53 appearances. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole put up 20 points per game, while Kevon Looney and Draymond Green cover most of the defensive requirements of the team. Looney tops the team in rebounding with 9.18 per game while Green hands out 6.94 assists per game in 70 appearances.

As a team, the Dubs impress everyone on the offensive end. Golden State holds a top-three scoring record of 118.2 points per game. They accomplish this with a 47.6% shooting percentage and a pair of top-six records of 56.3% two-point and 38.1% three-point shooting. Defensively, Golden State limits competitors to 117.5 points per game on 47.1% shooting.

Thunder vs. Warriors Betting Trends

  • The Thunder are 2-3 in the last five road outings (1-4 ATS).
  • The Thunder are 2-3 in the last five games (0-5 ATS).
  • The totals went over in two of the Thunder’s last four appearances.
  • The Warriors are 4-1 in the last five contests at Chase Center (3-2 ATS).
  • The Warriors are 3-2 in the last five games (3-2 ATS).
  • The totals went under in three of the Dubs’ last five home games.

Thunder vs. Warriors Expert Betting Prediction

The Warriors play great ball at home and they want to finish within the top six and avoid the Play-In Tournament. These are scary times for a Thunder squad trying to avoid falling out of the top ten. Nonetheless, from the looks of it, the Mavs need a miracle to take the spot away from Oklahoma City.

It’s going to be a rough night for the visitors, but they also played well leading up to this moment. All they have to do is pressure a Dubs team that does tremendously well in front of the Chase Center home crowd. Covering the spread should be doable for the visitors. A win demands a tight scoreline throughout the game as well. Ultimately, we look forward to a clash between a young squad and one that packs tons of experience.
