Why Bet on the Utah Utes?
Utah’s offense started the season on a down note. But since coach Kyle Wittingham switched to quarterback Cameron Rising, things have gone great for the Utes. With Rising under center, the offense averages 35.5 points per. Utah averages 428.8 total yards Rising throws for 216.2 per game while Tavion Thomas, Micah Bernard, and T.J. Pledger, lead a rushing attack that goes for 212 each game. Among the three backs, Thomas is the most difficult to stop. The former Cincinnati Bearcat rushed for 20 TDs and 1,041 yards. Utah sends the best defense in the Pac-12 to the field. The Utes’ D allows just 317.3 total yards per game. Opponents average 20.6 points against Utah. Defensive lineman Mika Tafua has 9.5 sacks on the season. Linebacker Devin Lloyd is impossible to block one-on-one. Lloyd has 7 sacks, 4 interceptions, and 63 solo tackles.
Why Bet on the Ohio State Buckeyes?
Heisman Trophy finalist C.J. Stroud leads the top offense in the nation. The Buckeyes rank first in both yards, 551.3, and points, 45.5, per game. In 2021, Stroud was unbelievable. The 6’ 3” quarterback threw for 3,862 yards and 38 touchdowns. He tossed just 5 INTs when completing over 70% of his passes. When Stroud gets into rhythm, he’s close to impossible to stop.
Ohio State’s defense didn’t perform as well as many expected. The Buckeyes fielded a decent but not great defense when allowing 366.6 yards and 20.9 points per game. Ohio State did create takeaways, 12 on the season. But no player on the D stepped it up and dominated. Defensive lineman Haskell Garrett had 5.5 sacks while safety Ronnie Hickman led the team in interceptions with 2.

Utah vs. Ohio State Expert Betting Predictions
The Buckeyes played in the much better conference. Ohio State had to beat Penn State, Michigan State and Nebraska. But although Ohio State played in the better conference, they failed against their biggest rivals, the Michigan Wolverines. Not only did Ohio State fail, but Aidan Hutchinson and the Wolverines’ defense terrorized Stroud and the Buckeyes’ offense, holding Ohio State to 27 points.
On offense, Michigan blasted the Buckeyes with 297 rushing yards. Looking at this game, it’s apparent that Ohio State faces similar circumstances. Like Michigan, Utah boasts a dominant defensive player in Devin Lloyd. Also like Michigan, the Utes have a ridiculous rushing attack. Ohio State must step it up big time on defense to keep Utah from scoring 30 to 40 in this game.
Stroud is great but Lloyd and Tafua are going to be in his face all day. Utah shouldn’t just cover. The Utes should win the Rose Bowl straight up.
