Why Bet on the Washington Football Team?

There’s no escaping the fact that the 31-13 blowout at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7 is a bad look for the struggling Washington Football Team. At 2-4, head coach Ron Rivera needs to right his team’s ship before being written off early as a postseason contender; let alone a candidate to win the middling NFC East.

Quarterback Taylor Heinicke met his match against KC’s revitalized defense this past Sunday after putting on a string of decent starts. Heinicke went just 24-of-39 for 182 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Even Washington’s running game couldn’t get it going, as the team racked up just 94 rushing yards on 19 carries.

And to address the Football Team’s biggest concern all season long, its defense has not turned things around yet after having a magnificent 2020. Washington’s D is allowing a league-worst 31 points per game this season after being a top-10 defense in the previous campaign. It won’t get any easier against the Packers this week, that’s for sure.

Why Bet on the Green Bay Packers?

Aaron Rodgers made it verbally clear in Week 7 that he’s owned the Chicago Bears ever since he’s stepped foot in the NFC North. The Green Bay Packers stormed Soldier Field this past Sunday and handed the Bears a 24-14 defeat, as Green Bay improves to 5-1 for the season; the second-best record in the league only behind the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.

Rodgers threw a couple of TD passes and ran for another score as the Packers’ offense made mincemeat of the once-vaunted Chicago defense to the tune of 323 total offensive yards. The two-time league MVP connected with his favorite receiver in Davante Adams on four pass attempts, as Adams finished with a team-high 89 receiving yards and set a new season-high of 22.2 yards per catch that game.

Green Bay’s defense also came through this past weekend, holding their third opponent in five weeks to 17 points or less. The Packers are heavy favorites to win in Week 7 mainly because of how well they’ve performed on both sides of the ball and not simply because of the favorable matchup ahead.

Washington vs. Packers Betting Trends

  • Washington is surprisingly 5-1 in its last six regular-season games on the road (4-2 ATS).
  • The Football Team is also a decent 3-2 in its last five meetings against Green Bay since 2010 (4-1 ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in four of Washington’s last five regular-season games in general.
  • The Packers are undefeated in their last seven regular-season games played in Lambeau (5-2 ATS).
  • The Packers have won four in a row and eight of their last 10 matchups against NFC East opponents (7-3 ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in four of Green Bay’s last five home games, including the playoffs.

Washington vs. Packers Expert Betting Predictions

It’s apparent that the Packers are clear-cut favorites to win at home this coming Sunday considering their recent win streak and the troubles surrounding Washington’s defense. On the other hand, the Football Team has been a tough out as a road warrior of sorts lately, which will probably sway enough bettors to side with the two-score road underdog instead of the obvious popular pick of a Green Bay blowout in Lambeau.
