Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals

  • 2021 NFL Week 8 Odds: Arizona Cardinals -6

Green Bay has proven it can hang with any team in the league. The Packers head into this with issues at wide receiver, though. Top WR Davante Adams is on the COVID list. So is wideout Allen Lazard.

Arizona has dominated almost every team they’ve faced. The Cardinals rank fourth in points scored per game at 32.6 and first in points allowed per at 16.3. Right now, Zona looks like an undefeated squad that nobody can test.

But although Kyle Murray and the Cards are formidable, Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers. The 2020 MVP has hit his stride. Even without Adams, Rodgers will play well enough to keep this close.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Packers

Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons

  • 2021 NFL Week 8 Odds: Atlanta Falcons -2.5

No team has fallen off the rails this season as much as the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers started the season 3-0. Since then, they’ve lost 4 straight. Atlanta started the season 0-3. Since then, the Falcons have won 3 straight. Atlanta’s defense isn’t great. It won’t have to be. Not as long as Sam Darnold starts for Carolina.

Sometimes, it seems like Darnold is on the opposing team’s payroll. That’s how bad the former New York Jet has played. Matt Ryan to tight-end Kyle Pitts has become a strong connection. Falcons should blow past the spread.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Falcons

San Francisco 49ers vs. Chicago Bears

  • 2021 NFL Week 8 Odds: San Francisco 49ers -3.5

Oddsmakers and so far NFL handicappers favor the 49ers because the Bears have one of the worst offenses in the league. Quarterback Justin Fields hasn’t put it all together yet. All the Bears must do to be competitive is start Andy Dalton. Chicago won’t do that, which is why it’s tempting to side with SF. But this happens at Soldier Field and Jimmy G. was dreadful, absolutely horrendous, against the Colts. Taking the points makes sense.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Bears

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns

  • 2021 NFL Week 8 Odds: Cleveland Browns -2.5

When asked if he’d ever take a college job, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said, “Never.” Tomlin is one of the best head coaches in the National Football League. But as good as Tomlin is, he can only work with what he’s got and right now, MT doesn’t have a lot. More importantly, Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry should play. If only Baker and Nick play, the Browns win and cover.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Browns

Tennessee Titans -1 at Indianapolis Colts

  • 2021 NFL Week 8 Odds: Tennessee Titans -1

It’s easy to jump on the Titans after they demolished the Kansas City Chiefs 27-3. That would be a mistake. KC, right now at least, isn’t a very good football team. The Colts didn’t beat a good team last Sunday, either. But the win over the San Francisco 49ers in the rain at Levi’s Stadium impressed. Also, Carson Wentz has thrown 11 TDs and a single pick. Wentz should get another target to throw to because Indy wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is listed as probable. Colts win.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Colts

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints

  • 2021 NFL Week 8 Odds: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -5

5 points doesn’t feel like enough, does it? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers average 33.3 points per. The Saints score 23.3 each game. Worse for New Orleans is how the Saints average less than 300 yards per contest. However, Sean Payton has decided to become a run first, defensive team, which means the Saints could frustrate the heck out of Tom Brady and the Bucs.

You can only score on offense if you have the football. Jameis Winston has become a master at running 12-play, 7-minute or more drives. Jameis will be fired up to beat his old team. Saints can take this on the moneyline. Grab the points if you want to play it safe.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Saints

Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are a decent football team. But Kirk Cousins and Dalvin Cook will have a hard time matching Dak Prescott’s and Ezekiel Elliot’s output. The Dallas Cowboys are the top scoring team in the NFL. Prescott is one of the most feared quarterbacks while Zeke is having a fantastic season. Big D should have no trouble covering this tiny spread.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Cowboys

Monday, Nov. 1

New York Giants vs. Kansas City Chiefs

  • 2021 NFL Week 8 Odds: Kansas City Chiefs -10

Things aren’t copasetic in KC. The Chiefs are struggling big time. Problems exist on both offense and defense. But although KC is 2-5 against the spread, oddsmakers and handicappers continue to back the preseason Super Bowl favorite. The Giants blasted Carolina 25-3 in their last. NYG could add to KC’s woes. Taking the 10 points is the wisest play.

NFL Week 8 Pick: Chiefs
